Why its just a FMIC

CW, take the bumper off and where it meet the headlight, use a nut or a washer to space it up on the bumper support (so it sits more flush to the headlights), but the new setup looks good man.

Thanks boosted, Im kinda so so on a retune also, seems like a waste of cash if little gain?

You talking about the gap at the lower section of headlights/bumper? If so that always annoyed me a bit, maybe your washer theory would help though...

Yea definitely check your a/f ratios. The air should be cooler/more dense, making a more lean condition.

Doubtful, its a tiny greddy turbo, not a gt45r. I really doubt the intercooler will make that much of a difference.

Pipes are 2", they really dont get narrow on the bends at all. When I drove it, it did spool a little slower then the smic, Im sure due to longer travel from the pipes, but the top end pull felt stronger with the FMIC

Got the rack today from BLU! stoked.. already cleaned it all up and ready to tear it apart. The only difference I can see from my Si rack to the DX rack is a little stamp "VGR" on the si rack.. Is that the only way to tell the two apart?

Thanks again BLU!

Those of you running 949, be careful. Sheesh.

This was at a local time attack event, wheels were on a turbocharged em1. Messed up the car pretty bad

very true. I know a few people who have bent or cracked 949s. Every time it has been because of an off or hitting certain berms...so bending/cracking of any wheel is inevitable. I wish there were more options for 8 or 9" forged wheels...under $2500 a set.

Okay - car is running good overall - fun stuff.

Now my friend is getting occasional puffs of white smoke from the exhaust under acceleration - occasional - not consistent.

No coolant loss. I'll double check the rad cap for oily residue and oil level - but i'm pretty sure they are both good.

The car does not have a CAT currently and used to have tranny fluid leaking onto the cat shield which would cause a good amount of white smoke after getting off the freeway at a light, lol.

Would the cat delete and likely still oily cat delete cause the white smoke? He has to replace the CAT for smog and is hoping that is the solution.

It the smoke coming out of the exhaust or around it generally? its really hard to say what is it. White smoke is water, I think...

The white smoke must be caused by something.. Oil or Coolant would be the first guess. If your not losing coolant.. count it out I guess. You may have some oil sneaking past some seals.. or even a PCV valve not working properly causing oil to blow by. (too much oil would be black smoke)
Tranny fluid creates a lot of smoke.. could be that. You will have to keep your eye on the fluids and see which one is moving! Hope that helps.. smell the smoke, best way to tell!

Nice finds CWB, may have to "borrow" one of em!

Could just be moisture in the air if it is very slight and doesn't "float" off when it comes out of the exhaust. I know my truck will look like it's smoking sometimes when it's humid out and I understand that is just the super hot exhaust discharge mixing with the water vapor in the air. Kind of like a hot asphalt road on a cool summer morning that produces "smoke" which is really steam.

Does the car not having a cat affect any of that? i.e. I'm seeing it more since its not passing thru the cat?

B16CRXT - comes from the exhaust. When the tranny was leaking (fixed now) the cloud would just sort of float up from under the car and the engine bay - fun stuff.

HOTSAUCE01 - I'll double check the fluids - yeah the tranny stuff smokes up bad, but that has been fixed. Coolant hasnt dropped at all.

WhiteSlips - that might be - I did notice it this morning, not so much after work yesterday.

BLU CIVIC - I hope so.

Cat replacement is on the list - but if it would help eliminate the puffs - it might get bumped up higher on the list.

Also have some news - we're moving out of the house we're renting - owners are selling. Found a new place but have to get rid of an 'extra' car. Debating selling the 84 rabbit gti or the civic.

Civic is plush by comparison and just put in the new tranny, has AC, great gas mileage, pretty much all orig, never hacked or pulled apart - but theft...in So Cal, has me thinking.

Rabbit runs great, but no AC and def not as safe in collision.

Both paid off.

If it's coming out of the exhaust it could just be moisture, but you really gotta get a whiff of it.

See, that's the hard part - it's usually while under acceleration, maybe I can have my wife drive an I follow. From what I do smell, its a fuel like smell.
