Doesnt really happen. I'll try again tomorrow morning, but pretty much only under acceleration.

The fuel smell was what made me think it could be related to the no cat thing.

I've seen bone stock low mileage S2000s "smoke" and it has a heavy fuel smell to it.

What was the reason for that one?

I've heard it's from running rich on the stock tune to lower the risk of detonation.

Hmm, I dont think I'm running rich - stock D16A6, JDM ZC non vtec cam (same cam I had in my CRX with no issues.

But I am not running a cat, could it be stuff that is supposed to be processed in the cat, but running without is an issue?

So far smells like regular stinky exhaust. Nothing sweet or particular about the smell.

Not having a cat is definately going to affect your exhaust smell. Are you running anything other than bolt ons and a cam? Just wondering if your ecu is pumping out more fuel.

its cuz you are running without a cat. Im a smog tech and funny enough i run my cars without cats. The cat oxidizes the byproduct of combustion. My cars have a stink to them too and dont burn oil

Okay, good to know, thank you guys, now I just have to bump up when I get my cat done so I can stop the puffs, lol.

On a side note, I just traded my NS Race springs with my friend for his Eibach Prokits. I had Tokico's and he was running Bilstein HD's. The Race way way too much for the Tokicos and would have blown them out - they may still actually be on the way out - but I have to say, the car rides much better now, closer to stock with good handling, but no prolonged bounce coming off undulations in the road.

Thanks! Surprised I got in, but I think they always want more ED/EF chassis cars. Stiff competition this year with a few guys VERY familiar with Streets of Willow. I've never run there...like last year at Cal Speedway. I have bragging rights of 1st place B-series, but that doesn't mean much since it's nothing official. They finally added the drag race as well!

I am a little irritated about a few people who got in, but I'll just steer clear of them.

I was a little surprised not to see some names on the list... some you can just assume will make the "friends" cut. I really dont like the choosing idea.. Run it! Qualify on your own tires and then have everyone swap on whatever junk they make you run.... make the only rule that you have to be able to fit tire X. Then they can pick the best group of 20 closest together based off qualifying times. I dont know.. just seems kind of biased for the people closer to the organizers. Should be cool either way.. Clearly rooting for the EF guys either way.
Drag race should be cool, wasnt aware that they added that. Making everyone run on the street tires though?

Car back to the oem specs now?

Just pompous people...nothing personal. I have a very short fuse.

Unfortunately, it's a low buck event. The organizers do the best they can, but they're used to running a magazine, not a track day. A lot of the people on the list are actually not friends of anyone...the simple fact is they're closer. They want 20 cars and they want those cars to actually show up. It's just easier for the mag to pick local guys (and "cool" lookin cars that will sell magazines. I'm convinced I only get invited because EFs are rare in this competition and I have a big ugly wing).

As for qualifying, they do that for Super Lap Battle, but again, FF Battle is low buck so that'll never happen. On top of that, guys would all have others drive their cars to set the best lap times to get in. I will maintain my stance that while I have no problem with people who hire guns to drive, I firmly believe you should run what you brung.

They've been trying to add the drag portion for years and finally it'll happen. Should be cool! My vote is that Tom Liang will win in his EF hatch. He would have won last year, but said he had a headache and was certain his best lap time would stand. Well, we all dropped our lap times another 3 seconds and he had to settle for 2nd place.

Car is back to USDM front with the fenders I had modded. I may run 17's for the event so I can run fat rubber...just nervous it's going to dog my horsepower.

Well, good to hear you're out there doing what you enjoy and showing that these cars can be useful for more than hardparking and economy.

Yes, either way it is a sick event! I see your point with that. not only do they need to be track ready, but appealing enough to feature in magazines! (last years duct tape cover was great though)
I also did not think of the distance and people actually showing.. I wouldnt miss that for the world if I had a chance to run it!

Agreed.

I hope I can find a reason to cancel my return flight and stick around the extra 2 weeks for this event.. Kinda upset that I will be missing it! Still looking forward to Wekfest and Eibach.

You might not see much more of Danz/Farmyard's builds publicly anymore, since his hatch got stolen.
