what about spool time? I'm only shooting for around 15-17 lbs and maybe 400 Hp. Would the HX35 be a better choice for that?

I'm hearing on some of the dodge and diesel forums that the HX35 is good till around 35 lbs. Then I've got a tuner that has done a few nissans with them bolted on having some shaft problems at around 18 to 20 lbs. Whats the deal here? Will this charger get me to 400HP and be reliable?

i've made 422 whp on 19psi on a pistons and rods ls/vtec with and HX35, that was on pump gas and i still coulda pushed it a little harder

 

Man I made 404whp and 342ftlbs on 10psi with a hx35 tuned on crome. You could make 500+whp with a hx35 man. They are good for 38psi on a diesel. It all depends on your setup.

 

wow! that seems like alot of hp for only 10lbs. i got mine up and running and im running 10lbs on basemap, and the a/f is pretty decent and there is no knock, and i know im nowhere near 400...

thats a hell of a good tune!


what are the specs of the motor it is on?

 

It was tuned on a S200, Now crome! The Specs are as follows: Stock Internals Jdm H22a/lsd with less than 50xxx on the engine! I was runing a Tial 38mm wastegate, drag gen1 manifold and then switched to tublar (which actually hurt me with the tune I was running) I foget the type of intercooler, 680cc prescion injectors running at like 88% duty cycle which was a little high, walboro 255lph, 3inch open down pipe which is why I made so much power and 3 inch pluming! Mind you.... I only ran it like this for a short period of time, so I can almost be certain that the longivity of this setup would not have been long. No replacement for displacement and the closed deck I think really helps compared to a B series

 

Other then Ebay, where are you guys finding these holsets for sell? I am looking for a HX40 with the 6-blade billet compressor wheel.

 

Go to a cummins dealer around you! Get cool with someone there talk to them bullshit with them ask them if they have any "damaged boxes" containing turbo's?? Cause if the box is damaged they cant sell the turbo and if that happens they usally stick the turbo in a place where its most likely going to sit for a long time. Thats how I got all 4 of my Hx35's and 1 HX30

 

probably been asked before, but what fitting do i need for the oil line on an HX35? restrictor? going on a D16

 

I dont know the actual measurement but as long as you have some kind of restriction, Honda's are high oil pressure motors so people claim that they blow out the seals in the turbo?? But you will be surpised at how much abuse one of these turbo's can take. If you really want to know ask this guy named James at garage 808 just google it and call him!

 

I need some quick info guys.. I just finished putting my setup together, and the damn garrett turbo I got is leaking/smoking on the turbine side.. so I'm trying to find a good holset as a replacement, but i'm not entirely sure which would be a direct replacement with little to no modification..

my current turbo is a T3/T04E 57 trim .60/.63, and it's mounted for an a/c compatible setup.. so the compressor side can't be any larger, and the exhaust can't be any wider, and would be nice if I could fit my garrett turbine housing on it so I can use my 5 bolt down pipe..

any ideas?

hey.. just got a holset with a reman tag (no model number), and the wheel measures 82ish mm, any info?

hx52 FTW you want a manifold and downpipe for that turbo i'm debating on parting out my car

 

Are you planing on moving a city with that turbo? My god! Its huge! What you get full boost at like what 5000rpm?

Holsets have an internal oil restrictor. The 6bt's make a ton of oil pressure as well and don't have a restrictor anywhere inline.

 

This is true, is it true for all holset turbo's?

cool on my car the hx52 hits full bost 20 psi on my setup at around 6000 but it kinda hits all at once there turbo will barely make 5psi before vtec kicks in and thats on a 2 liter

did some googling, found a DSM guy on HMT that is successfully using a VGT holset. He got rid of the electronics though, and is using a 14b wastegate actuator to control it instead. to that guy.
