Oh ok gotcha. Let me just ask this then. In an event of a rollover, would this cage not save my life. If the right steel is used along with sufficient thickness and proper welds, would this cage be effective? Because as far as im concerned an autopower roll bar/cage doesnt hug the car either, compared to a custom weld in.
Please nobody take this the wrong way, like i said im just tryin to learn as much as i can about the subject by asking alot of questions

Chris, that bolt in setup, imo , is fine for some stuff, but literally terrifying on the street..... Please snug up those harnesses ultra tight.
the hoop appears well made, and though the cross brace seems oddly placed, on track that will probably keep the roof off your head.
my suggestion would be to get some low low race buckets, to get your head away from it. And , they'll hold you way better on track. Big time. You'll be amazed how much better you drive with a good seat

That cage doesnt look right jdm_ae86.
Im not sure about the back half, but that front section doesnt look right. You want hugging the dash like this!

I dont know though, every car is different and Im noticing every cage is different! Just as lost!
I really like the autopower, very simple useful option. I even saw that they had an updated version for the 91 style doors.. I feel when Im ready for the full cage custom is the only way to go to have good fitment.
Boosted, motor looks sick, bolt that trans on and get her in! Glad to see her going back together. was under my car today looking where to route the fuel lines. If you get a chance when you have the car up to put the motor back in, maybe you could snap a pic of your lines??
Concerned about one thing. will the exhaust temps effect the fuel line running near it if I run the line down the tunnel? not even sure where else would be a safe place to run it.

^ win.
I had an autopower race roll bar in my Eg hatch. very nice piece, does the job and doesn't put all that metal right in your face. As others have said, the bends in the rear stays are a big red flag.
Not sure what's up with that front half either. Looks like its damn near in line with the steering wheel! I'm hopefully having a custom cage installed within the next couple weeks.

that picture shows bars that go into the dash, very different setup. Like stated i plan to get a fabricator to re-do the front bars to sit closer to the dash
the part that matters really is where the bars hug the windshield really, and that's not that bad. Pretty tight actually. If anything, put straight rear stays in it later and a door bar to tie the front to the hoop. You'd have a decent track-day cage then. Just get your head away from that bar.... Factory seats are too high for that, although it is pretty tight to the roof.
No they are on the correct sides as there is only one way you can install the bars because of the way the holes for the bolts are placed. It is not upside down because of the plates that bolt to the floor
Either way man, car looks fresh!! Im sure you'll get it worked out.
Boosted, Looking good! Any girl willing to sit in the garage, coat and everything, in these temps is a keeper!
Did some searching and found a thread on here of a bolt up auto-power, it has the same mixed reviews and opinions as every cage thread. I guess everyone is going to have their opinion on whats right and wrong, only real call is the tech inspection at whatever track you run at. Heres a pic though to show some fitment (this is the 91+ version so the bars are bent in slightly to accommodate the doors.

rest of the thread touching on seats, harness, roll-bars, cages.

Hey guys wondering if you can help me out.. Anyone know for the crx (1991) if function 7 lca's will run more negative camber or will it retain stock camber like how the original lca is on there? reason i ask is cuz i have the function 7s on my DA and i was just going to switch the lca's on the crx later on cuz my DA's back at home while im currently on the east coast
**** me. If i do all these things to fix this cage i might as well just do a weld in one. This cage isnt lookin as good as i thought it was.
I feel your pain Chris.. I dont think anyone wants to say its not looking good or say anything bad about something you spent money on. Thats the best part about this thread is we dont seem to have any competition or jealousy towards others, we all seem to offer solid, accurate, advice.
I believe now that there is really only two options when choosing to add extra safety..
1. The autopower which is your basic set-up for using buckets and a harness, still giving some extra protection but not total, easy install, fair price.
2. Custom, made to fit, drop your car off at a shop and have them weld away. (or build yourself with proper tools)
May be time to decide to go full race car or not!

Boosted, or I guess anyone with lines under the car... any concerns with the exhaust being near the fuel line?? assuming the line is run up the tunnel, not really sure where else to run it without it being on just a flat part of the under-carriage. The temperature of the exhaust near it concerns me a little.
Looks like she almost back together!

Boosted is back in the saddle!
I hear you, but it will be worth it. Then you'll get door bars to tie into those front-stays as well.
