The Official EF Discussion Thread
Unmolested > molested. This probably goes without saying, but people should make sure the car is secure on multiple jackstands before yanking hard.

My explanation might be a bit misleading. When you yank, the suspension will dampen some of the forces, I've always done this with just the front on jack stands, not all four and I've never lifted the car. If I did it as shown in the picture, I may get the car up an inch or so, but it's still not enough force to move it off the jack-stands.

My buddy bent/cracked a $500 22" wheel, then proceeded to let the car fall off the jack and damn near kill himself when all he would have had to do is put some bricks behind the tires.....

All joking aside, that's scary. You hear about people dying like that all too often. Sounds like you guys provided some education though. eeeek. This is why I want a lift in the garage (got rid of my old one)
doing the lines, bleeding the brakes and pulling the tranny apart this weekend, what about you slackers?
Also i need to start redoing my rywire harness.

He's a buddy of mine who is 38 and hadn't worked on a single car until a couple years ago. I started helping him work on small stuff on his daughter's car and the next thing you know we are doing a little restoration on an 86ish Chevy stepside. I've told him 100 times not to jack up a car without chocking the tires and pulling the parking brake just in case and he just got in a hurry and it about cost him more than a few seconds...
That's no joke man even just strong winds... I know two people who have has cars fall on them and kill them. Still have friends who wont use jack stands much less ebrake and bri ks... I wont get under a car without them when I help friends...
When I put my car on stands I put two stands under it no matter what, chock the wheels with 2x4s and usually leave the jack underneath just in case. I've got a big tree trunk that I put under the side skirt just in case too if I'm doing something where the car is shaking around a lot.

I'm finishing laying tile in my garage tomorrow and then driving 4 hours to Buttonwillow to track on Sunday. Just bought a gopro so hopefully I'll have some good footage for you guys next week.
