The Official EF Discussion Thread
Now now... lets not let this get out of hand. I think Nicks example of them knowingly racking mileage on his car v.s a product error are a little different.
I doubt Rywire intentionally did anything on purpose and I would bet that he would clean up any messes hes responsible for. The company mentioned must have known that adding a couple 100 miles to a car being worked on is a little overkill.. either way.. Im sure ordering a part through them is fine. How bad can they really F that up.
Back to the brake lines...
Inline does make some nice stainless lines.. not sure on them though, dont really wanna find out the hard way either. I like the clear cover over the stainless....feel like it adds a little protection. Main reason why I may go with russell lines over earls.
Boosted- JHPUSA has a sale on goodridge lines.

On the subject of inline fours lines, I have them, the clear lining is nice so the dirt stays out of the braiding, but if brake fluid gets on the clear cover, it browns it (ask me how I know...)
you guys need to cool the personal stuff here...kinda odd.
nick and ryan are friends and former roomates IIRC. i've talked to ryan on several occasions, and from seeing how long hes been doing this stuff, you KNOW hes not a scammer, and you KNOW hes going to fix any mistakes. he sells SO MANY harnessess (which have to be hand made, etc), it'd be a miracle if everything was perfect at all times.
every single harness company i've used (buddies have bought jumpers/adapters from all the old companies) have had issues too...we had a boomslang with a problem, a JKobd with a problem, random ebay one with a problem, etc.
ryan will fix problems, we know what. cool the bashing. if he starts doing crap like chase did years ago, bash away...but he hasnt, and i doubt he will.
have i bought anything from him ever? nope. but hes sold my friends more good stuff than anyone else has...we havent personally had a problem with any of his conversion harnesses, and we've put them in tons of cars around here. i personally think hes a genuinely nice guy that provides a needed service to our community, and like any business, hes not perfect, but he appears to be trying.

After seeing the fit and finish on earls, i wouldnt use anything else, every An part in my car minus the russels banjo adaptor is earls, from fuel, to oil line to vacuum turbo lines.
Itsgoodstuffman lol
I got my lines from fastbrakes. I got them with a kit tho so I don't even know what brand they are. Iirc they only sell lines that have the covering over them which is good
Ive used Earls and in the past on an EF.. I also have used goodridge in the past and just installed a new goodridge set on a prelude not so long ago. NO cover over either companies lines..
I can feel you on the "everything earls" though.. keep it all in the same fam!

Haha. Nice jab at Rywire for absolutely no reason.
And mistakes? You call Inline4 ripping my father off and driving his freshly swapped car around for personal business and racking up 100s of miles a mistake? GTFO with those comments of yours. You don't even know the story...well, now you do.

its not a big deal. I'm just pointing out how you are bashing Inline Four, because they screwed you but you always get bent when people feel screwed by RyWire...
Those south eastern guys do/did the same thing for chase.
Well, ryan had a messup on my harness, no big deal I called him and it was fixed, people make mistakes. On the other hand how they handle such mistakes in terms of customer service is where it counts. And TBH inline four is 20 bucks higher than jegs or any other vender.
well definately dont get it from them. Every time i've bought from inline four, they have had the best price i could find... Every time i've bought from somewhere other than inline four, they did not.
if summit racing has what you need, use them. I love them.

summit racing has yet to disappoint me with anything. Ordered some ST sway bars from them last month for a customers car and I called up and they granted me price match from another site so I got them for 40$ cheaper and still free shipping. Im sure Jegs is the same deal..
Im getting nervous now about installing my Rywire/Chase harness, sure hope everything is up to par.
Hey Blu- I have so many magazines showing up at my house lately... ones I didnt even order! BASS guitar, Opera?! and even EBONY! amongst all the road and track, car and driver, SS, etc... My Honda-Tuning just ran out, dreaded last issue cover... any links for that one?!

Just to clear things up...
Matt and I didn't get screwed by Rywire at all. It was a 23 year old harness with lots of stuff added in/changed and it is understandable that something might be out of place or switched up. They replied to Matt's e-mail immediately and have offered to look over the harness and figure out the problem no questions asked. That is better than most companies I deal with on a daily basis whether they are car related or not.

My point exactly...
It's the truth, that's another point I was trying to make, **** happens, and I completely agree with you. Whenever I do work on someones car, I tell them if they have any issues to let me know so that if I somehow caused the issue I can take care of it. I don't like leaving people hanging out to dry because I definitely would not like that treatment if I went to someone or somewhere to have work done.

With respect to the Rywire situation you all have been discussing, I can't even say for sure that it was a "mistake" on Ryan's part, yet. Take a look at the green wire in the background of this pic. The wire is obviously brittle so it's possible that more problems exist inside the loom, rather than a plug being repinned incorrectly. I don't know. I was under the impression that both the OBD0 and the OBD1 Vtec harnesses would be examined for any potential problems during the building of the conversion harness, but, perhaps, that is not the case. It is interesting to note that Rywire is no longer building harnesses this way anymore. The website indicates that the method of combining the old harnesses has become too much trouble so they just build new ones now.
"Do not send your harness to us!
As of January 2011 we have changed how we build harnesses. Over the years the quality of stock harnesses sent to us has just gotten worse. We are doing more clean-up and repair, than modification. 10-20 year old wires are brittle and break easily.
We've decided to make our focus building new, replacement engine harnesses. In the next few months we will release a brand spankin new DPFI to MPFI engine harness for DX/STD Civics for OBD0 engines for under $350."
Just like Chris said, a representative of Rywire responded to my email almost immediately and asked that I send the harness back. Whether it was a mistake or just old wiring, it appears that Rywire intends to correct the problem. I'll definitely keep you guys up to date.

I've never liked inline four.. I called a couple times and it seemed like they blew me off, and wanted to hurry and get off the phone.. Not to mention I called once, and couldn't hear anything over their music playing in the background. 0_o
I had no idea what they did to you nick... I will never support them! This whole Rywire bashing thing is a little crazy don't ya think?

Second, people are just explaining their experiences with him. Just as you did with InlineFour. Maybe the InlineFour bashing is out of hand??
well my jumper harness i got from them a while ago too forever and it was the wrong item. tried countless times to get a hold of them and just ended up selling it. vowed never to do business with them again. but that's just my experience
anything else happening out there?
anything else happening out there?
Well... how bout naming some good companies.
I have had good experiences with JHPUSA, Weak sauce is always top notch service, Full-race was easy to deal with, havent ordered much from King motorsports, but the things I have arrived normally. summit is the best but not much to offer imports. Password hasn't done me wrong.. Only real problem I have had is with Mfactory when they disco'd all there suspension pieces.. but they did contact me and offer to help out in the future. I bought my harness from Ryan and Chase when they were still "together".. Havent even installed it yet. Probably more of a regret purchase on my part than anything.. should have waited for the dust to settle. Lets just hope everything goes smooth once Its in use.
-Anyone have any good companies they recommend rather than hate!?
Hows the recovery going Blu? any luck on the EF search?
