The Official EF Discussion Thread
Thanks, man. Any recent shots of your hatch? Seems like I haven't seen it in a while.
Yes, the header is heat wrapped. No, I didn't spray anything on it first. I just wanted to make the cheap-o eBay header look better. I think I actually paid more for the wrap then the header. LOL.
A local friend had the ITR tube and EG6 airbox laying around so we tried it out and I liked it so I bought it from him. I wanted a semi-OEM look and this worked out perfectly. The EG6 box inlet lines up with the OEM intake hole.

do you have any pictures of how you mounted the box?

Car looks GREAT Matt. Is the EG airbox crooked or does the picture make it look that way?
Crooked? I don't know. This is how it sits.
It does sit a bit of an angle. I don't think it'll sit completely level in the bay or the bottom OEM mount on the airbox would hit the wheel well and the airbox inlet wouldn't line up with the OEM intake hole. I like how it looks, but I guess others think it's crooked. LOL.
The ITR tube is a bit loose on the OEM TB, but I picked this 70mm TB up so that won't be a problem anymore.

i love everything you have done to the sedan its one of my favorites so far. my only gripe though is the big 70mm tb it really wont benefit your set-up if anything it will hinder it. i know you have your reason why your using it and it makes sense. but performance wise i think you will lose power the throttle response would make you think other wise but trust me it will. if down the road you change your mind the stock 55mm i think its better if anything opening up to the tb opening on the IM 2mm over the size of the tb is very beneficial. if anything 70mm tb with a boosted D making mad power would work but not this set-up. just food for thought man just looking out for ya.
Unfortunately, I do not have solid evidence either (hypocritical, I know) since I can't find the dyno charts. Another guy out of your hometown used to be big into those combos. I think his name was Dave. He had a big operation for a while.
Gonna have to disagree with you on these statements since you are not providing evidence. A good (and old) buddy of mine has been toying with d-series motors since I met him in 2002 (he's originally from Ridgecrest). He runs www.polarbeartuning.com and sells ported intake manifolds, throttle bodies, etc. I wish he still had dyno charts posted, but the ported intake manifold/bigger tb combos DO make power. Albeit upper end power, but power nonetheless.

well they will make peak numbers but then again i obviously don't know the purpose of the vehicle. personally with the pretty stock set-up he has i don't think its beneficial. im mostly on d-series.org a vet member on there i have tried the bigger tb route myself. unfortunately im hypocritical myself also with no proof. looks like we both have good friends with no proof at the moment. now if this set-up had a worked head and IM and cam'd i would say go for it depending on the cam profile obviously. i guess it depends on his power band right. i think your talking about dave hickman the scammer his tb's were garage. i have heard of polarbeartuning they do awesome stuff. I didn't mean to say it wouldn't make any kind of power i guess i was vague so i apologize. i mean useable power

My wagovan A6 motor screamed with a ported head, ported intake manifold and B16 throttle body. Also had isky vavle train, but I never put the delta cam in there. I also had a ported z6 intake manifold and B16 throttle body on the Y7 motor in my old white commuter CRX. I thiiiiink it helped power wise, but never dyno'd before/after.
And yes! Dave Hickman. Yeah...not a lot of good things said about that guy. Chris learned everything from Dave, but I don't think he's shady.
Matt: Do you have to worry about smog?
I get what you're saying now.

I keep hearing the JDM D15B cam being compared to the Zex stage 1 or whatever. How does that factor into the debate as to whether or not it'll help right now?
random question for you guys. on the corner lights on our cars, which bulb is the one that is the parking light and which one is the turn signal? I have confused myself during the wire tuck since its been a long drawn out process this time.
front is driving light & back is turn signal
so my suck rear drum brakes have been squeaking... so i go out and get some new shoes to fix the problem.... sounds reasonable right, only i cant get the damn drums off, i used wd40 and tapped it with a hammer then waited...no luck, i used pb penetrating catalyst and smacked it good a few times with the hammer then waited... no luck, i beat the living hell out of those unholy freaking things with said hammer...not a budge...i seriously considered giving it 14 40cal hollow points at close range but figured that would only make me feel better until i realized that it didn't help my situation in the least.... can someone please just give me a wtb list for a cost minded rear disk conversion before i injurer myself with a ricochet
