Ahhh, bleeding discussion! Awesome! definitely go by the book for the fastest results. I believe no matter what order you go in will work eventually.. but the fastest is to start at closest and criss cross.. I always remember the "x" when bleeding.

and as CBE said.. use a filter of some sorts when re-using the clean/old fluid, you never know what it has picked up in the line or dripping off the caliper. Ive made some little hoses to go on the caliper nipples so it doesnt make such a mess.

Would love some more info on bench bleeding and the best way to ensure it is done proper.

You know, I think a pressure bleeder is one way around the bench bleed thing. If I dont bench bleed, I'll be forever chasing a soft pedal.

Hotsauce, my technique I described a few posts up has never failed me (on Hondas). On other m/c's that dont use Honda size ports, I have a syringe I use that kinda backwards bleeds. Ive only done that method a few times but it seems to work too. Try checking youtube? Other wise you could bench bleed on the car using your fingers to cover the ports while someone pumps the pedal. There's definitely more than 1 method, lol.

Why do people bench bleed mc's? I've heard of it before, but what's the point if, when you get it in the car, you are going to bleed the whole system again anyway...

Bitch pins are bitches.

I finally got to spend some time on the sedan. I installed the shift linkage and got to shift though the gears. It was extremely satisfying. The car really hasn't been touched since October. The whole starting a business thing has literally consumed all of my time. Anyway, I got the header, exhaust and front passenger side suspension installed. Next time I work on it I should be able to put her on the ground and roll her out of the garage for some day light.

Fourth, Ive seen a lot of how to's and video's.. every seems to do something a little different, some bolting it in, as you said.. using a vice. Im guessing the main purpose is to fill the master with as much fluid as possible before hooking the lines up.. Ive installed used masters plenty of times with no bench bleeding.. just not 100% on whats necessary for new ones.

Probably go with something similar to what you did.. bleeding it back into itself.

Make you master bleed its own blood! :bang:

Na-! Good to hear your wrenchin again! How bout teaser pics for some old buds!

mikecp- not 100%, but pretty sure the doors are different.

Since on our cars the master cylinder is mounted level in the car bench bleeding isn't needed as much as in some cars where the master cylinder sits at an upward angle. In the cars with angled master cylinders just throwing it in the car and bleeding it there will still be air trapped in the higher portion of the master.

Apparently here in canada, you can have the harness as long as you still have the stock seatbelt and use it on the street. Basically the stock seatbelt is not to be tampered with in any way, that includes not using it altogether.

I've been pulled over twice since I put in my setup and both times the officers walked up the side of the car, looked in to see I was strapped in and then just let me go. Literally, pulled over for 30 seconds and I'm back on the road.

I've also had to roll through a couple random drunk driving/seatbelt check points and had no problems so far.

you are worried about the weight of your OEM belts with the amount of hp you are running?

Good point. I didn't think about that. I guess I'll do some sort of bench bleeding on my new one when I get it...

Can you fill the reservoir and pump it by hand at all? without being in a vice...

also never had a problem on the street with a harness. several times cops have actually pulled me over to look at the car and ask me about it (because it has a rollbar/cage setup, and thats not that common in a civic i guess). odd.

I don't see how the law could have an issue with a caged/seated/harnessed car versus it's stock counterpart considering it's a hell of a lot safer. Now, with that said, seat/harness and no cage.... deathtrap in a roll over, but still don't know if the average beat cop knows this.

roll bars would insinuate to me that the car is used for spirited driving IMO...

Anyone have suggestions for longer intake manifold studs besides ARP? Their **** is way too expensive. I thought the $25 I was gonna spend in the hardware store was too much(theirs wasn't exactly what I needed)!!

This is for a set of 4. I really need 10 but that thing is $80!
http://www.race-mart.com/ARP-400-8003.html

I need them unequal like that with a size of M8 X 1.25 X45mm long. Thanks if any of you have online ideas!
