the m7 and your volks will be the same concept

take off the barrel, weld or however they do it extra metal on the lips to extended them, polish & install

na since they're 3 piece & m7's are two piece i can essentially take it down to the center disk, measure everything and buy a lip @ a certain depth and a certain width of a barrel. voila. no welding required.

I think the majority of the time the two or 3 piece wheels are put together with a freeze/heat process, not welding. They freeze the center piece and heat the outer piece, then insert center. When they both return to normal temp it's tight.

thats if they are welded. most of the time a true "pieced" wheel is assembled with fasteners. I think they are talking about changing widths and offsets using different components.

Exactly, BBS style 3 piece assembly with 3 actual pieces (outer lip, face, inner lip or barrel) as opposed to like a billet wheel (face & barrel welded) or a two piece (M7 and BBS RM - Outer lip & Barrel with face attached)

Possum is the cat's meow, that cat can really deal the non-jive wheel beat...like yeah man...

kinda stumped... i have been looking into the QUAIFE QSR, i have a 91 si model so i know im going to need an HF rack or at least a non si manual rack. the part that has got me stuck is... does an HF steering rack mount into the si xmember the same as the si rack?? i thought the only difference was the internals of the rack but i could be wrong. I wish I had an hf around to compare with but im out of luck. just wondering if i need to find just a hf rack or a rack and xmember?? any help is appreciated... I can take pics of my si rack and xmember thats out if that would help too.

hf/dx rack.

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/steering-rack-1496269/

which in my opinion since the quaife is only 1/2 less turns each way lock to lock id just use a dx/hf...and a civic std rack. i dunno its all in if you got the $ laying around

no money laying around! but i need to freshen my rack up either way.. the hf and si xmember share the same part# so im sure they'll work. I plan to find a junkyard or lesser HF/DX rack and swap in the quaife parts. Are you sure its only a half turn each way difference?? doesnt sound like much for the coin spent on it.

i think the quaife is good if you're chasing cones in a parking lot, or maybe on a small road track, but i can turn my car just fine with the si rack and anything less turn 2 turn i probably would overcorrect and/or have a super twitchy car

in that thread it says the turns lock to lock

turn lock to lock is listed 3.8 DX and 4.1 Si.

also the power rack ratio is 17.7:1 with 3.65 lock to lock

and a quaife is 2.86 turns lock to lock. so its about 1/2 turn each way.

you have to have a power steering x member to use the power rack also.
