I don't know how you CA guys survive with the cost of living out there.
Btw, our house is being built on Camber St.
I guess that means I need to slam the sedan when I move in.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I'm only here for the race tracks and building my career. And my last name is Caster...funny how that happens

Luckily for me, this part of the country wasn't on the housing bubble like the coasts. Housing is, and has been, on the rise. In fact, that house is worth about $3k more now then it was 3 months ago when construction started. Forbes recently named OKC the most recession-proof city in the country. All those factors equal good time to buy for me.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Yeah, my comments were more directed to the would-be California buyers.

my wife and i just got a smoking deal on a house (chicago)...bring ranch on the nicest/biggest park in town...dated, but we brought them down from 200,000+ to 155k
took since november, when we first looked at it, but should be worth it..haha
NO MORE MONEY FOR THE EF, and i'm fine with that! i've already got several spare engines, and several trannies!

Its the best time to buy right now if you have the credit. While the market will still go down a little in the next year or so you can hammer the banks into letting properties go for cheap, and have them eat the closing and down payment costs. Try doing that when the market is at its lowest and its a mad house with people buying as much as they can. Real Estate is going to get real competitive here in the next year.
The trick is not to get in over your head. I base everything off of what I make on regular time not overtime like alot of others do. Or back when there was all of this shady financing brokers would put in whatever they wanted as far as income. So a family who might of made $120k year combined and had badass credit the broker would fudge the numbers and say they made $200k which qualifies them for their dream home. This is simply irresponsible!
You have to start out small and use equity to get that dream home. Patience is key!
The condo I'm looking at needs a lot of work, but since I am capable of just about any remodeling job I can gain a lot through sweat equity. Its not easy but its worth it in the long run!

SiRed - Damn Red congrats man, that is a DAMN nice place you got going on there, complete with scenery. Nice story in the other thread, although I definately dont condone racing in the mountains in the rain...lol.
That being said, it really is a beautiful garage with a nice house attached. Here in CA our house appraises for about that much, but looks nothing like that. We were very tempted to move out to TX for property and the lax smog rules.
Mekanism - Nice meeting you at griffith park - Sorry to hear you'd have to part with such a nice car, but the goal is definately worth it. Before we had the house, I had to give up my car habit for a long time. Again, worth it though. Make sure whoever you sell it to gives you first dibs if they ever sell.

Yep, ARMs are owning people, too. We're basing our finances on only my income. The wife stays at home with the kids, so she could always go back to work if things got tight. We're getting a FRM so it shouldn't matter.

I love OK, no inspections. Cops don't know jack and I rarely hear of people being harassed.
