there is the human element. most people forget when you are doing these processes its more than paperwork and black and white. there is a gray area, and the gray area is the person youre dealing with.
i.e. im sure it would not be hard to register a mark2 cobra kit car for show plates in socal when the guy youre dealing with is a fat *** 52 yr old muscle car fan, but try to register a RHD conversion honda with the same guy and he is going to want to step on your dick as much as possible.

My uncle lives up in the mountains where its smog exempt. I am begging him to allow me to move in for a day!! That would be AWESOME, imagine that!

thats really not the factor
its being pulled over and being told you are not allowed to have this motor in your car.
Basically the only way to get a cop of your *** is to prove to him that this motor is legal, not stolen and will pass smog.
With out the Ref there anymore its likely that we can't do that.
what I don't understand is what the hell is a cop doing to do once it gets to this point.
Tow the car...
ok then what can we do. We would have to show them that it is smoggable.
Lets say we make a agreement with the judge to take it to a smog shop and we pass emisions.
Then what. We just have to wait until we get pulled over again and keep going through the whole process of proving a cop wrong.
I'm pretty sure they are going to pull over a smart guy one day who will make a case out of the whole thing and win and some laws will change but damn, we gotta wait that long.

I wouldn't worry about it to much. With the way the economy is going I am sure were the last of their worries. Also, being that there may not be a state ref that might just imply a hefty fine.

sounds like my stimulus check will be doig exactly that. Bush gets his money back plus 10 fold, which is BS.

To be honest I would rather pay 600 dollars at times then deal with the headache of the state ref or any other smog place for that matter. my car is far from smogable and far from ever becoming smagable again. I mean its possible but I got rid of ever stock part I had and it would also need to be rewired. Just a headache I wouldn't want to deal with. I have had state red tickets and my lawyer got me out of them. SWEET.

california is pathetic im sorry if you have pride, dont get me wrong i love the place, but California is now hitting up military service members whos home of record is a non-state tax state (i.e. FL) and hitting them up for state tax, when they arent even a resident of california. stationed there? yes? resident? no.
that is so wrong on so many accounts, whether or not you hate service members.

yes, thats the good bar.... 90-91 jdm front for a us rad support
On the ref thing... Im thinking since cali needs the money so bad that we are just going to get hit with the fines. So every time we are proven to have illegal parts the "bail" will just have to be paid. 500-600 bux each time. Thats my guess.

Agreed. FYI, Ryan; I wrote up a quick letter asking what's going on to Linda's husband. We'll see what he says as well.

Vega - Car's coming along nicely and looks good on the RNR's - proper.
Streetwerkz - Damn, progress huh, lol, fresh paint looks clean and I bet you can't wait to actually take a drive soon huh?
Synergy - That front end is killer, what I wanted before, but dont want to have to pull and align myself, lol. (Desktop shot)
Ryan - BASTICH!! NIce daily - been wanting one for a long damn time but being married with a daughter, I cant justify a 4th car for myself and another 2 seater at that, lol. Anyone want to trade me my CRX, Civic, and CL for an NSX??
As far as this whole state ref thing goes, it is supposedly a temporary thing, but the way I see it playing out is that the state will realize how much revenue they earn by just citing and fining these swapped vehicles which by and large have been associated with reckless teens, stolen engines and the entire illegal import scene.
So even if the Refs return, they may only start working with specific gross polluter cases and things of that nature - remember, they are suspending aid for those as well. And if that becomes the case, if you already have a certified swap, lucky you, but for everyone else, you will have three options -
1. Operate illegally
2. Run car "Off road" only - Track use only
3. Give up swapping.
It costs far less to cite and fine, than it does to certify and pass - from the state's perspective of course.

another little problem guys...
My distributor cuts out from time to time...RANDOMLY. Only at highway speeds and if I let the rpm's drop a could grand it will kick right back on. I know it's the distributor cuz there is absolutely no change when flooring the gas other than tone and the tach drops to zero when it happens. Facking annoying.
edit: The distributor itself is fine. I have tried 3 different working ones and the symptoms are the same. Engine harness is also brand new from honda. I suspect some bad wiring from the ECU to the main plug. one of the 3 main ones. I think its the L shaped one.

I would like to hear what the local PD/CHP have been informed to do. This substantially irritates me, lol. The whole reason why I purchased a B17a1 in the first place was to become BAR certified. However, if I can't even go to the state ref, and CA decides not to reinstate it; I'm going to sell the B17a1 and buy a K24, an "illegal header," "illegal intake," etc. The whole reason why I didn't go H2b or K-series in the first place was because I wanted to stay legal. Now that I don't even have that option, I am forced to break the law
Cliffs: To hell with CA, time to go all-out illegal swap.
Btw, yes I quit HT, but I just had to come back and comment on this issue
