someone quick answer this question because I have recieved conflicting information

I'm rebuilding my calipers and I used caliper grease (green in color from Kragen) for the the piston in order to slide it in.
I saw probably three different websites that said use grease (different in color but all stated grease)

Now I take it to tech to have him do it and he tells me your not supposed ot use grease because you are mixing substances and my pistons won't work right
He said I was supposed ot lube the piston with DOT 3 brake fluid to slide it in

Anyone know exactly what I'm supposed to use

I already did one brake myself and I used the grease now if I was supposed ot use DOT 3 I have to take it apart if I did it right then I'll just continue to the other brake caliper and finish it off.

i'd imagine it'd be fine, but i've always used brake fluid.

i dont think mixing a little grease w/ brake fluid will hurt anything though

Wes V used DOT 3 on his rebuild

and the Helms manual says this :

Took 3 finals today, last final tomorrow. Straight scale, no curve, average in the class is a 30% right now so 85% of the class is failing. TA thinks the professor is an idiot for his grading system, need to get a B on the final to get a B in the class, A to get an A. Not totally screwed like most of the people in the class, but I'm scared as hell *sigh*

What's new in the EF world?

It was me. I used some stuff I had laying around to push the supports up, then I used Great Stuff expanding foam to fill the void between the supports and the roof metal. I covered the interior with drop clothes, because that stuff is very sticky. I also wore long sleeves and gloves. Where a hat too. I got some in my hair and it took a week to get it out. You can buy a 2-part epoxy at body shop supply stores, but I think it's about $100 for the glue and the special gun. This cost me $4. Be careful not to put too much foam in at once, because it expands quit a bit.

Thanks. I think. I kind of miss it, but I like being able to park in the garage. Come winter I won't even remember having it!

I can see how you think camber would affect hooking up that much, but let's remember you have a K20 in your rex. Do you run an LSD? If not, there's your other problem.

Any way you look at it, you'll need to run some bit of camber to tuck those kosei's in there. Good luck. </TD></TR></TABLE>
i installed an OEM '08 Si LSD.

So how much more camber do i need to tuck them in there? I guess i never realize that everyone who's tucked has crazy negative camber...

-3 is not crazy at all. I run -3f/-2.8r and it looks normal. FYI, that -3 up front occurs naturally. If I wanted -3.5, which I do, I'd have to get the skunk kit. So if you just lower your car a bit, you'll get the front camber you need. For the rear, you'll need to purchase the upper link (control arm) for the rear.

It's interesting that 2 of you from CA said your roof supports need to be re-glued. My hatch was from CA. I always assumed the sun and heat deteriorated the glue.

You need new friends I'm not sure how well jb weld would work. The nice thing about foam is that the straw fits into the holes and slots in the supports. Plus because it expands it gets alot of surface area to hold.

thats not saying to lube the piston with grease though. It's saying to lube the other parts or the rebuild. you do not want grease to mix with your brake fluid. I imagine it will cause a clog or some other catastrophe.

Congrats bro, it really is a great thing, takes a while to realize it really is happening, but esp once they become more interactive and start moving around - things get interesting, lol.
