I agree with Nick, it depends on the car, but in general a shaved bay is not for me... On my car im welding shut all the unused holes so airflow dosent get through on the firewall... But ya, all smoothed and stuff is not my cup of tea. I think the main reason is in the back of my head I wonder whats under it, and when it will crack... I had holes filled on my grey crx and it was not my style. I couldnt stand the rubber plugs in the firewall either, so im doing the reverse this time, welding firewall holes, and leaving the rest.

No. Remember it is my opinion and you cannot refute that. I think shaved bays look like crap and you like them. I think vaginas are cool and Bart does not. See where I'm going with this

Therefore, you sir...are tripping.

Yeah I am not sure how needed the backup camera is in a car the size of a four wheeler. Either way I want to make all the options on my deck functional. Although I might not do satellite radio. I have 2000+ songs on my ipod now, wtf do I need more music for?

Here is the IPS link:

a.) i dont like shaved engine bays. i think they look gay. like shaved side moldings.

b.) that HF sounds AWESOME. maybe u should think about putting the reverse camera where the key hole is? then just use the lever to pop the trunk. and stay legal/safe with a third brake light.</TD></TR></TABLE>

a.) to each his own.

b.) I would do it that way, but the brake light is an optimal location. For one it is centered, and higher up to see the back better. Plus it is out of the elements and will stay nice and dry there. The key lock in the back is my back up plan. I have no lock rods in my doors at all. So it is unslimjimable. If my battery goes dead my only options on getting in are the hatch or a brick. I haven't had a working third brake light on any of the past 10 cars I've owned. I don't like them. Never been pulled over in 11 years either, at least for the brake light that is.

Yeah, shaved bays are nice, but only if done right. Every hole filled in my bay all ready is welded, and very little filler. Everything else will be the same way. I am not sure on the seams. I think I might leave them oem. It will take allot of welding and fabrication to do them right. I've thought of tubing the front end, and cutting most of the stock stuff away, and fabricating new inner fender wells, but that is just out of hand. My car is not a show car, and never will be so I see no need to spend that much time, and money and not go any faster. If it saved a substantial amount of weight, or added a substantial amount of rigidity then I would do it though. I still might tie my strut towers into my cage though, just for strengths sake.

Nicky, it's not the vagina I don't like. It's the rest of the human they are attached to, that usually gets me. The vagina is the only redeemable quality in most women I've found.

But they are somewhat useless. Only good for attracting guys, and making up for the female's lack of intelligent conversation. As long as we don't get caught looking. Plus naturals usually get saggy, and whatnot. Bolt ons usually hold up better! So bolt ons get two

I don't believe it is a fad. I mean hot rod guys have been doing it for eons. It's just a new thing to the hit the Honda people. It is more of a showy mod, which I am usually against. I just feel if something has no function then it shouldn't be there.

On another note. A customer renigged on a bluetooth unit we special ordered that happens to fit my Pioneer Navi unit in my HF. So I just got done installing it. It is the cats ***. I always hate how when in my car I can't hear people because it is 20 years old, and has no sound insulation. Plus I always miss calls because I can't hear my phone or feel it vibrate, because of the 2000 some odd watts of power going to the three speakers in it. Now it mutes my audio, and my phone rings through 2000 some odd watts of power. It's pretty cool I think. Now I have added power windows, locks, navigation, dvd, xbox 360, ipod, 1000watts of 120v power, and bluetooth phone to my old 20 year old econobox. I love it! It's really becoming quite a gadget of a car now. Next I'll be putting a back up camera where the third brake light is supposed to be. </TD></TR></TABLE>

wth...for a guy who talks about function in a CAR, whats with the xbox and other useless stuff? Next will you be installing cupholders to go with your entertainment system? hahah

Touche nick rps. Touche!

Bart you wanna keep your third brake light. Whenever I'm behind someone without it, I can't always tell right away when they're braking. A couple times I've almost rear ended people because of it, and I'm a pretty alert guy. I have a lot of close calls with altezza's too. I hate driving behind those cars!

Shaved bays look cool... but i wouldnt want it on my car, just dont want the worry of it ever cracking. i think its more of a show car thing.
getting rid of useless brackets or welding up the AC or harness hole is fine, even re-doing or re-moving the seam sealer is strait and what i plan on doing.

we all must be different though.. so to each is own.

Yeah, typically I can tell just by looking at them but I've been shopping around for just the knuckles alone (a lot cheaper) as I only need them to press in some 5 lug hubs...

DA front knuckles will give slight positive camber which is great for a lowered car. For a car sitting at stock height, just stick with EX or Si knuckles

Anybody else care to chime in? I'm pretty sure they have a stamp on them like LH... and RH... for left and right sides then a number

Just thought i'd let you So Cal guys know that at the Junkyard on Beach (Pick Your Part) in Stanton near Autobacs, there was a 1st Gen RX-7 with some nice old-school Enkei mesh. It had GINORMOUS lips. Like 1 1/2 inch lip in the front and a 3-4 inch lip in the back.. Lug pattern is 4x114 but should be a easy sale to the V-Dub guys.
No Centercaps though, i took them.

I dont know guys I love my shaved bay, and if I had to do it again I would do it! Cracking! Mine hasnt cracked after 2 years, if done right it wont crack. After spending alot of money on an engine to me it didnt make sense not to do it. I think of it as a focal point, I want people to notice the engine, not all of the stupid brackets and un sightly holes.
