LOL
the pedals get 'em everytime

don't worry I feel for it too

My car also failed smog today....horribly

but the good new is I finally got my Hasport mounts in and my car feels why more sturdier then before. Probably even gained some power but I can't feel it because my wheels are so heavy.
Never really reliazed how big of a difference it made until now

did u look under the car

Its a good kit but @ the time of install I basically did a hack rush job

was holding off because I was having some other stuff done.
but that was a waste was well.

Any smog techs out there
I know for sure I need to get the right ECU and put my other muffler on, adjust the timing. The ECU will fix my idle for the most part
after that I"m kinda stuck

muffler isnt effecting emissions. it says on your form, ignition timing and cat.

even though it says your cat passed, i think it's bad. And i dont believe your ignition timing could effect your hc by that much, unless your timing is off by a whole lot. I would get a timing light and check it, and advance it by 1 or 2 degrees.

timing is @ 9 degrees. That was the closest we could get it.
cat. is 1.5-2 years old and I almost all the time pump 91
He said he couldn't get a steady idle to check the timing and I know for a fact thats from my ECU
but the cat. is the responce that always give you

Can a ECU being chipped through anything off
its just a basic programming for a B series
nothing special

when it says the cat "passed". That just means they looked under the car and saw a catalytic converter. It doesn't necessarily mean it's in good working order. If you're running an aftermarket cat, 2 years has probably done it in. Every aftermarket or "high flow" cat i've used or seen friends use, is good for 1 smog check.. by the time 2 years rolls around again, they've all been shot.

James, what ECU are you running, and why is your idle out of spec? Even if it's the wrong one, any stock ECU should be able idle a stock b16 just fine. Are you grounding pin D4 on your ecu when you set the timing? If you just try to set your timing without telling the ECU you're doing that, it'll constantly try to compensate for you moving the distributor.

It looks like the tech highlited "Oxygen Sensor" as well.

Cat is a magnaflow "high flow"..
dang that sucks

ECU is a p28 with a Fobtions Special Chip
I honestly don't know why is out of spec.
Every since the chip is has been unsteady

Can you clean a o2 sensor or is it a purchase a new one kinda deal??

I didn't know anything about grounding the pin
I'll have to look into that next time.

9 degrees is way off. i think the stock timing is 16. that would change alot. that high hc and co seems like your timing is far enough off to misfire

Man your readings suck. Combustion efficiency is down the ******* for sure. Your gas mileage must really suck too.

I bet a lot of it points to a cat thats a bit tired, however, i have a feeling even with a new cat it still wouldnt pass. Timing at 9 degrees? What do u mean thats as close as u could get it? 16 +-2 is the spec, so you're waaaay off. I bet the car feels a bit slow too..or if u think it feels 'ok', wait till u fix that timing!

Is this a state ref inspection station?
