its coo, i know this transmissions gear ratios are much shorter than my ls, thats for sure. Probably just something is reading incorrectly, especially now that im being told a stock ls trans is at 3.8k at 80, i always thought it was supposed to be at 3.5

It really isn't that hard to find out what transmission you have. I swear this stuff pops every few months about transmission and or info about b-series motors. This stuff is 20 years old and nothing but information is out there. How do you NOT know what you have or what to do with it.

 

FF squad has had the info posted up years ago. a simple google search will find it.

 

You have to be really careful with the gear ratio tables on the internet, it's pretty widely known that they are not 100% correct. Some better than others, but IIRC the last time I checked there may have only been one (if that) which was 100% correct. I suggest you look up as many of the tables as possible and compare info - definitely don't trust the first one you come across.

 

Word. I've seen a few incorrect ones. Especially with all of the different variations of the cable B-series transmission.

I have a k20 trans hooked to my d16c1 bottom end with a b18a1 type r head

 

this is my DA. i just got it friday for $1150.it runs good and its my 1st import that i am keeping import...had a rx7 and a mazda b2200 that i put ford 5.0's in...this teg has a b18a1 and a 5 spd.i plan on modding it with a turbo and a few other little things.anyways this is my teg...

 

some light body work and a quick respray and she'll be looking good

 

IA was super fun!! Saw some sick cars, met some chill dudes, and saw a lot of potentially illegal ***. DA's were in short supply but I met two guys who said they knew my car from my h-t build thread. ha i actually opened my ys1 tranny and counted the teeth on the gears and i still dont know which one i have i think its a ls though

 

If your not positive its probley an ls...lol..if you buy or have anything thats lsd or "short geared" im sure they would tell you and would be easy to id 95% of the time

 

if your motor sounds like itsgoing to explode at 80mph, its not an LS

i agree **** looks poppin! and potentially illegal *** doesnt sound that bad... hahah but anyways... got the ls out and b17 in last night! started pullin the b18a at 10pm and had the b17a started up at 6am!! short *** tranny tho!! rollin about 4500 at 80! and it feels hella faster then the ls... it had more torque but when the b17 v cracks.... loook the **** out! installin side markers tommorow! wish me luck! will post pics of swap asap! and ps troysdateg ur sittin on a diamond in the rough! good luck!
