i thought the Borg-warner turbo's looked an awful lot like holsets. i would assume you would need a compressor wheel too. no info on what part they are though sorry.

what kind of manifolds are you holset guys running ? anyone ever try a divided t3 flange ? i talked to rc000e and he said the collector will be tricky because the t3 flange is not very big.

more than enough...freind used to have the same thing w/ a 57 trim .63 ar...and it was silly...and the hx35 will outflow that...so i can only imagine

Its been my finding that the HX35 with the 16cm housing will support up to 550-575hp pushing it pretty hard. but theres alot of variables that will dictate that. im hoping for 500hp out of mine...... and then its on to the B-W S366.

Well here are some ratings I found:

Holset:
HX35 63 lb/min
HX40 74 lb/min
H1E 72 lb/min

Some Garrett GT40 ratings for comparison:
GT4082R 50T 58 lb/min
GT4088R 52T 68 lb/min
GT4088R 54T 72 lb/min

Huge price difference in the Holsets, and they are very tough turbos

where is it that you measure to get the housing size? I have an HX35W and have no idea where to measure for housing size. I'm needing to know this before I buy a GT35R.

A friend of mine just picked up a H1C off a local site and I was wondering if anyone could give me any info about it? I know it has the 18cm wheel and I can provide some serial numbers it needed.

I just don't know how much air it flows, how much HP it's good for, what spool will be like on a 2.0 GSR. ect. ect.

h1c is the pre-deccessor to the hx35...so id expect somewhere in the 58-60lbs/min

The updated info is that the 7 Blade 60mm wheel flows more than the 6 Blade 60mm?

The Super 40 has a 7 Blade.

Would a stock F22a be able to handle a HX40 on 15psi with just head bolts and 93 octane?

Im currently working on a F22a swap for my 91 sedan.

Default Any ideas about my Holset? (pics included)

Best thread ever guys, seriously.
Im from the UK where doing anything out the ordinary is frowned upon, but I love it, and need your help...

I've got a JZX81 Toyota Chaser with a Nissan Skyline GTR RB26DETT engine conversion, and im planning to put this Holset on it, and while im going to give it a go regardless, im curious to find out what Holset it is, how it will spool, power, etc etc...

I measured the wheels and this is what I got...

Compressor-
64.93mm inducer
97.71mm exducer

Turbine-
83.96mm inducer
69.97mm exducer

Housing wise we have...
Compressor-
Very large diameter with 4inch anti-surge inlet

Turbine-
Much smaller compared to the compressor. Divided T4 inlet. "16" embossed in to the exhaust housing near flange. Does that mean a 16cm2 housing?

Part number on the housing is... 3591953.
But a Google search finds nothing with that number, anyone know how to de-cypher it?

Also drawn in marker pen on the comp housing is...
H3591597-06

And on the turbine in marker pen this is drawn...
4037512

No ID tag on it for some reason, looks to have been removed.

Off a Scania engine it seems (says it on the compressor housing! :D

Here are some pics...

And here is a rough size comparison against a Blitz/KKK turbo that is meant to be good for about 650bhp and certainly spools up nice and quick on a 2.6...

So, any ideas what model of turbo this is?
How it will spool?
What sort of power its good for?

My "guess" is its a HX40, should spool pretty good, and going by comp wheel inducer size its good for about 700bhp.
But I dont know Holset turbos well, so ill leave it to you guys!

Any help MUCH appreciated

If you can. please take off the compressor cover and measure the inducer at the wheel and not the compressor wheel inlet. I am thinking it is an HX40 but with the 64mm inducer that is alittle large.

I did mate, ignore that pic I posted where it looks like I was measuring it with the housings on, its mis-leading, sorry!

The measurments given in the writing before the pics were all done with both housings off.
They had simple v-band clamps holding them on so was easy to remove

HX50 eh? Kind of what I found when looking at Scania too, that they all seem to be HX50

What will the spool be like? 16cm housing so not huge at least.

To me it kind of looks to be the equivalent of a GT40 sort of thing by compressor wheel size, ie around 700bhp.

Will be the first time I've used a Holset on a car, so any interesting info would be appreciated
