I have an ls del sol. No p/s no a/c. full radiator from integra. From my understanding on the Holset HE351VE the wastegate is electronically controlled with a motor on the side of the turbo? How are people connecting this turbo (using the electronics or eliminating them) and how? Im trying to run a simple setup to about(400whp) as reliable as I can get it. Or should I look into a different holset turbo altogether?

Time to read through this thread.........Dave tuned a hy35 powered (gsr i think) honda to 47xwhp. You have to go back through the thread and look tho.........

Car was [freak]ing weird on many counts.
almost certainly have some wastegate issues that got progressively worse - spool times got longer later in the session - weird. It's clearly visible in the dyno graphs. AVC-R was set to 3.0kg/cm2 and 90% duty cycle with training turned off (90% across board on solenoid duty in monitor mode) with 10psi spring in wastegate and saw a max of 22psi boost. Significant amount of boost falloff (2-4psi) at boost levels above 17psi. Go figure.
top end of the motor was decidedly lacking... Spent 5hrs on the car - more timing, less timing, leaner, richer... Didn't really go anywhere. Weird.
Car made 423whp / 350ft-lbs with a severely slipping clutch on 22psi - 93 octane pump gas
Car made 350whp / 300 ft-lbs on 16psi - 93 octane pump gas
Car made 330whp / 272 ft-lbs on 13psi - 93 octane pump gas
Car made 280whp / 223 ft-lbs on 8psi
Car made 181whp / ?? ft-lsb on 0 psi
Car tuned on a Dyno Dynamics Loading dyno. These are not dynojet figures. Do not compare them to dynojet figures if you are a numbers *****. Wastegate popped open with shop air, AFR and Timing tuned pretty extensively at 0psi. Timing / minor AFR adjustments at higher boost levels. FV+Gear Crome tools were damn [freak]ing close once dialed in properly and boost comp applied / dialed in - so very few AFR adjustments were really needed. Shape of torque curve essentially unchanged from 0psi to 15psi (where clutch DEFINATELY started slipping) which is kinda odd... Normally see top end pick up considerably with boost.
92F degree ambient / 52% humidity. Standard SAE correction used (1.037 I believe???) Charge temps did not drop below 105 degrees during the entire session, and most of the dynoing was done with charge temps ~110F.
I'm not entirely unhappy with the result, but am really scratching my head as to why the car fell off so much up top. 2L w/ vtec head w/ GSR cams is too much for HY35? Seems weird.
Dyno sheet will follow, probably tomorrow / friday / saturday when I have time to get it off my digicam, upload it, etc.
At this point, I'm hesitant but am leaning towards the HY35 being better suited to LS motors... </TD></TR></TABLE>
not sure how my 81.5mm b16a will compare to it but we'll see.

Oh, forgot it was a 2L and thought it was more power. Don't forget that the clutch was "severely slipping". That will rob a bit of power from the car. I have the turbo on my stock bore gsr and it makes 325whp @11psi no problem. When my car was first dyno tuned the boost spiked up to 25psi or so and extrapolating from the graph the power would have been in the upper 400's (good thing the driver let off
).

Umm, is this a trick question?? Just bolt the dp tightly up to the turbo and if everything is flush call it a day.

I have an ls with a built bottom, stock head. Which turbo would be the best choice to make 375 to 425 whp. choices are WH1E or H1C holset turbos. I cant find much info on the WH1E but I know it is bigger (wheel diameters and exhaust housing) than the H1C. I also know that the smaller the exhaust housing the better the spool. I will be building a head later and I am wondering if the H1C is a waste of time because I will be eventually boosting well into the 20's psi range. A laggy turbo wouldnt bother me so much for right now if I know I will make big numbers after I finish the top end (head) work. thanks

I just thought id share my latest Holset build:
Its an HX35w on a stock block LS/VTEC running about 10-11psi. I used most of the stuff from the setup in my teg and added a couple things. The teg did a consistent 12.2 with a best of 12.1@118 and a 12.4@121, all on 205-50-15 Falken Ziex street tires cutting 1.9 60ft. Plans for the setup include a Benson sleeved block, CP 9.1 81.5mm pistons and Eagle rods and ill max out my current map sensor at 22psi.

Crome Antilag FTW

haha ive never been here before and the guys above you were talking about 12 and 14cm and i was sitting here thinking what the hell lol
I admit it, I haven't read all 100 pages so forgive me if this has been asked. Is there any numbers for a hx35 on a d-series other than the HMT gold hc1? I have a z6 with vitaras and the fjt custom length rods, stock head. I've got a guy thats hooking me up with a cheap hx35 with 90k on it. What manifold would help the laggy bastard spool?
