first mod
see, i hear from so many people, "DONT GET A NEW HEADER, unless you want to spend $1500."
i have the b18c type r with a cold air intake, and full exhaust. I was looking to spend somewhere to $2500 worth of mods. I just dont know where to start

Now that I've driven one with the 4.9 oh yes. I would do it over and over again if given the chance. If I ever buy another DD R that will be the first mod. The FD isn't for the HWY squeemish. Yeah your RPM will be higher but damn guys these cars stock rev high on the highway so what's 500 RPM?
I would say that 4.9 is tad too much if you are strictly a street guy. Any track stuff in the future I would say go for it. I have a 4.7 with a krazy lsd that rocks!!!
First Engine mod?
You'd need to decide what your end goal is first, then budget, then how mods fit into your plan. But Immediately if I were planning on going NA I'd research and choose a good to great quality Header & HF cat. Intakes don't provide much and definitely not more than a quality Header. After a Header I'd look into a quality Catback. Tuning with the header alone can provide gains.
If I did everything all over again I'd skip any engine mods and do the Final Drive and Flywheel First.

I wouldn't. I'd say it's actually more drivable around town especially. The only downfall if you can call it that is on the highway it would be a bit buzzier. But stock exhaust is not a noise issue. But what's 450 or so more RPM? Nuttin IMO, and worth every little extra RPM.

I personally would have suggested a dozen Autocrosses and/or a few Track Days with the money he listed but he didn't ask that.

Craig - Who has about 20,000 highway miles only with the ATS (60k total).

Im not sure what the 4.9 term means? or FD?
What kind of Cams would you guys consider? and what are some nice websites for Type r parts?
ANd once again i appreciate all the help guys! I just really want to hit a low 13 second quarter mile, or 13 flat.

First Modifications. What to do first/next to my ITR. There is no best answer on what you should do (Many of these topics include replies to search and welcome to honda tech, pointing to research and leading nowhere or just personal preference). If you stay away from general questions on this topic and ask something more specific, you'll get better replies.

FD = Final Drive gear. 4.9 is in reference to the ATS 4.929 Final Drive gear Above that makes such a nice difference when driving.

Oh, you're one of those.
Go get a new Mustang GT and have more fun in a straight line.

So we're talkin about your Hybrid then and Not a real R? That information makes a world of difference.

By HID'S you mean your headlight bulbs? And did the J's intake and the ES motor mounts really do a good job?

I had a plug and play HID kit in my caR. It was made by Philips.
The J's was nice, although there is lots of debate on the topic of intakes. Look in the FAQ's page on top of the ITR forum.
The ES inserts were a nice improvement over stock, made downshifting a bit more precise and made the caR feel a bit more raw.
