I would say:
- $260 - DC JDM 2.5'' Header. From 3,000-8,400 rpm it preformed better than most $1,000 headers including the legendary SMSP header. 8-10whp
- $120 - 2.5'' cat
- $650 Mugen Intake. 8-9whp
- $Free - Advance the timing to 18 degrees. 3-5whp
------
Total
$1,030 19-24whp.

I think theres a difference between cheap and "Biggest HP gains for the least money". Maybe the poster should have phrased it more like "most cost effective engine mods" or something like that.
Anyway I think people here have it wrong about spending several thousand for just a few hp. Its just not worth it IMO. If I spend $3,000 on just my engine, I want 30-50% more power. Yet people here do it, and only gain 15-20whp.

I agree about the DC 4-1 header idea. I had one on my '00 and after taking it back to stock for D Stock racing (much lower PAX,
CSP), there was in fact a noticable loss in power along with a MSD Ignition (previous owner's idea). Keep in mind the cat does change too.

Hi, Where in the UK are you from ?
In summary your best bet is to go for a new exhaust manifold (or header
). Plus a custom cat or decat dependant on how well you know your local MOT tester
. How much money do you want to spend ? + are you willing to import stuff yourself ?

Maybe I overreacted. When I read these things it is usually someone who has 100 bucks and wants 500 horsepower
