I have heard of a trick for cutting the rear panels for the rollbar.
- Install the bar without the interior in place.
- Remove the bar & reinstall interior
- Reinstall the main hoop
- Get scrap PVC pipe that is a larger diameter than the rollbar and slide it up where the rear supports tie-in.
- Slide the PVC down the supports to simulate where the rear members go
- When the PVC hits the interior plastic mark it with a marker
- Cutout the hole you traced in the panel and reinstall...
Personally i was too lazy to bother with the rear panels and just left it gutted instead, bear in mind it is hardly driven.

thats not the only place where the interior rear panel needs to be cut. You also have to cut where the front leg comes down against the rear panel near the door.
either that or use a heat gun so you can push it in.

i wonder if it would make it easier if u went ahead and tightened the bolts on the fender well leg, and then slid the panel over the the leg, and then install the main hoop. does that make since?
nah that won't work
here are some process pictures
they are large as hell so open with caution.
I used a bar the slid in the hole where the legs are to match up where the hole should be cut on the panels.
And I used tape to "measure" where the the front panel needed to be cut for the legs.
i meant after you have the holes cut, yall were saying that it was a pita to tighten the bolts on the fender well
you need to paint your walls vega
you need to paint your walls vega
I need to paint more then that...
but the way you mnetioned won't work because once you tightened down the leg you can move it, in order to fit the base.

seats don't touch the roll bar
carpet and panels witll be the only thing you do any cutting too other then the frame holes.
PITA yes
but end result is greatness
I still have the option of using the hatch as an emergency veh. just in case, to get the family around.

isnt your cage for a eg? remember reading that somewhere? may have been cusco u had? or someone else.........
I didnt have to do any cutting on the panel in that spot. On my hatch, the hoop just kisses the panel but not nearly enough for me to have cut clearance for it.
