Thanks, moving is stressful but at least the Crx is safe and secure, that's like 50 lbs off my shoulders.

My Crx is overheating while chilling on the highway, I think by moving the intercooler, I blocked some air flow, either that or my water pump is trashed.

Thanks for the
Is that Larry's car? My engine is just barely under my hood like 1-2mm clearance with a oem jdm hood with webbing cut out. You can push down on the hood, and feel the valve cover under it.

Ya it's Larry's, he has a web free fiber images good a d it sticks up almost a half of an inch. Since his k20 was sold to him block only out of an ek, I'm thinking they may of swapped the upper mount out for a k24 unit since they pulled that motor to upgrade to a k24.

Honestly its going to be safe at a friends house next to his, allowing me to sleep at night. I will pull it out when I get a real job, but for now its pretty much done other than cage and seats. I also need to focus funds on getting a newer truck and I still have the cbr for fun.

But the crx will see a track eventually, its just life right now and what is in the cards.
there ya go

Hey guys... quick question:

It was about time to change the spark plugs on my CRX D16a6.
Anyways, when I took out the plugs, I noticed some oil has gotten the plug on on cylinder 4 and a bit on cyl 3.
The valve cover gaskets are 4 years old. I did check for tightness of the valve cover and it seemed a bit loose.

Could this be a symptom of worn bores/piston rings or valve guides ?
My CRX has 265,000 km (164,663 miles)

Also, I bought the NGK BCPR7E-11 plugs which run 1 step cooler.

Some pics:

The electrode/ground strap look clean, if you havent replaced the gaskets yet thats probably what it was. Plus if you are getting that much visible oil on the plug, it would be a miracle if the car wasnt smoking.

Nope, not smoking. Only 1 electrode is oily.
The valve cover Gaskets were replaced.

Someone said it could be the O-rings ?

Definitely seems possible. If its not too bad, id wait till (if needed) you do the tb/wp and knock it out all at once.

Rob. when you take off the valve cover are you replacing just the gasket on the perimeter? Usually you can get a valve cover "kit" that will come with 4 round gaskets that just pop in where the old ones were. pretty simple if you can tackle the valve cover gasket itself.

Those almost look rusted as if you got some water down the tubes or maybe some coolant sneaking in..

I bought the kit (9 seals). I replaced all of them of course.

yup the o-ring under the rocker assembly is usually the culprit. if you change the valve cover and tube seals and the the plugs still get wet esp that much its usually the o -rings.

Well the ef is finally on the road again. Took it to the track today and it did really well (by my standards) Did a few mods over the winter/spring and felt a huge difference in overall performance. No track pics yet.

Problem is the bolts that hold the rocker assembly in place occasionally snap when you try to take them out, which makes the job a whole lot harder. I would just wait to do it unless it was really affecting performance.

What do you guys think, OEM or amber bumper lights?

Nice Chris, what cage did you end up going with? New wheels I see... Why so high though?

hmmm.. you have a bunch of different lights going on. tough choice.. I feel like it depends on the car color sometimes.

Its a custom weld in. The new wheels are for the street, and the 5zigens are for the track now. The height got all ****ed up cuz i changed the springs and it altered the height. When i took the car in to get the roll bar done the guy accidently forgot about my situation(i told him to hold off On the alignment) and did it anyway. So i said screw it and went to the track like that.

I will be adjusting the height and camber soon and re-doing the alignment

Nice, glad you got that cage situation sorted out. custom weld in is the only way to go to get what you really want and need. Would like to get something done myself. Slowly making progress though.. Look forward to the track pics!
