My project came to a screeching halt.. it bothers me about every other day. Everything is sitting ready to go on.. minus some plumbing lines. just cant afford them right now. Car accident in my truck, 2 surgerys in 2 years on the same shoulder... cant catch a break lately. when I was working as a tech for Honda I had more money than I needed, now I cant seem to gather up funds to just finish her. Getting older sucks too!

99% of the EF's around here that are "nice and look finished", spent a good amount of time "in progress". Either you suffer through it with blood/sweat/tears as most of us do, or you punk out and buy someone else's blood/sweat/tears.

This. All I really care about is getting my car on the track. Not interested in big car meets b/c I'm not into how my car looks really…more of the functionality. That's why I'd prefer to hgo to the track and talk to drivers about their cars and set-ups. Also why I'm trying to put on a meet at VIR. The more I can get people to come to the track, the more I can coarse them to get on the track

This x3. I go to the "big" meets in California as a social outlet just to visit buddies (since I'm so far away from them all). But once I'm there I sit in my chair. Meets/shows are sooo boring. I'm a different person at the track though.

Speaking of track, someone buy this trailer. I need it out of here. 16ft. deck, 4 in drop axles, removable fender, 8ft ramps! $2,000. PM me!

Trailer is going to be the next purchase. Not just for the track, but friends usually borrow the Land Cruiser and go to u-haul for a dolly. Have to go tow my brothers' car to my house and tow a friends car to the shop. But not sure if we want enclosed or not b/c if we get enclosed could also use it to move stuff…but it's more expensive.

my cluster light doesn't seem to work in the cold. i had this problem earlier before where it wouldn't turn on at all but i wiggled some wires around and now the light turns on after the car is warmed up. its a bizarre problem. any help? my dimmer switch hasn't been replaced yet but it dims the light on my climate control unit and my cluster light (when it finally turns on)

Enclosed CAN be expensive if you go that route. A basic, 20ft enclosed trailer with no frills and 7k leaf spring axles will run about $4000-5000 new. If you want some frills, 10k torsion axles, etc. those damn things can get to $9000 in a hurry! Used is obviously a great way to go. Open decks range from $2000-3000. My example that is for sale was $3300 with all the options new.

I got a screamin deal on my new enclosed trailer. I can't wait to hit the track more and leave the rig at the hotel. I never felt comfortable staying over night with the open deck. The car just sat on top like a sitting duck.

My advice is go for enclosed and get it out of the way. I can almost guarantee that you'll get an open deck...and then want an enclosed shortly thereafter!

I believe you man.. Ive used rental trailers a bunch of times.. end up sitting up out side the hotel. You make a good point! Now your gonna get the bug for a 2 car! I like the enclosed idea b.c of the "rolling garage" aspect. I hate loading stuff up more than anything, forgetting a tool, fluids, whatever... would be nice to leave everything in the trailer.

Any rules against towing an enclosed trailer? size restrictions or license restrictions? or is everything the same as a normal trailer.

Going to buy lotto tickets.

normal enclosed trailers that you can tow behind a regular truck/etc have no restrictions, usually. just plate em and go.

i recently got a small enclosed for work that i can cram my car into.

i HATE how it pulls though, crappy axle placement. and, i HATE the extra fuel it helps eat.

with my 03 f250 diesel and my open deck/hatch or crx, the setup gets a solid 19-20 MPG.

just towed from chicago to ITR expo at CMP, to florida, and back. averaged about 18 with mountains. nutty.

blu, would you be trying to set up a meet at VIR next year? i'm tapped for trips this year, but i'd love an excuse to go back next year.

i plan to hit that track every year for the rest of my life. its so divine. what an amazing place.

CMP is NOTHING compared to VIR. nothing.

vir is so good. and i'd love to hang with blu. haha

If you make this a yearly thing...I swear I'll make it one year. I've been talking about driving back east to VIR with my dad for a while. I love the look of that track and really want to drive it. First on the list is Miller Motorsports Park in Utah though

Meh, towing does in general. But yes, enclosed trailers are like towing a giant brick down the road.

I think the only rule in California is your rig can't be longer than 60ft. total...then you have to get a commercial license.

if i had to have a trailer/etc. just for myself, i'd get a dolly...100%! mine is shared with my company, etc.. but its basically my car trailer, and we haul scrap and big materials with it.

nick, if you want to make a far-east trip, pick a date! i'd like to head there sometime in spring or fall....fall sounds AMAZING (colors, etc)

miller is another track i'd love to do someday. maybe i'll have a good winter and go next year.

destination-track-weekends are my new favorite thing in the world

I agree with the trailer idea.

Most of the time just sits.

My buddy had a non enclosed one.

We pretty much were at the track every weekend doing scca.

Then when he went to spec miata he manned up and got an enclosed trailer.

found it used. Totally clean for around 4k.

made it so much easier for track days especially when it was pissing down rain and you could sit in the trailer and still work on the car.

I totally understand on the show theory vs track.

I grew up doing NOPI shows with my wife. Pretty much the last year we did it we were over it.

Just sitting there versus walking around.

Since we now have kids, I'd rather do track days or somewhere we can take the kids and hang out.

So it just usually becomes we take the kids for rides in the EF's.

I swear when me and my son are in my crx and I start pulling through the gears he gets retarded. His hands and feet start wiggling and he goes nuts.

Real speed freak. Makes it a good day out for me cause he loves riding in it.

Both the kids are EF nuts. So the chance of me ever selling the EF's are slim and non.

They love the wagon.

i hope my kids, if i get to have any, are EFfreaks.

last night i finished re-installing my turbo setup, with many road-race heat management mods.

HOLY CRAP I MISSED BOOST. didnt even realize it.

about to hop in the car in a minute and cruise to my buddies house to drop it off there. his car and mine are getting worked by a paintless dent guy today. both tirewall dents from different tracks. LOL
