Good luck with everything, good luck with that sale. looks to be a clean start for someone.
Almost done putting this beater together.. gotta get to the stealership for a throttle cable.
Anyone using poly lower ball joints from energy? I dont want to replace the ball joint yet(not trying to dump any extra funds into this one) and I have a bunch of those ES poly covers laying around, wondering if its worth it to toss on until Im ready to replace the whole shabang. any advice is helpful, never actually used them before.. Looks as if they just slide over after removing the metal clip and old rubber... may do the steering arm too. the uppers are good oem.

those ES poly covers are kinda useful. i've tossed them (filled with grease) over ripped boots on many occasions...and they keep crap out.
do it up!

I had a couple options for disposal of the parts shell. I could pay to have the shell towed to the recycling place and hopefully make my money back for the tow (they pay $5 for every 100lbs) or I could buy a saw and take the pieces to the recycling place myself. Obviously, I chose the saw method because I will always have the saw, but I'll never see the money from that tow again. Plus destroying things is fun.

Mad JDM rare convertible option...

We figured pulling the suspension would be much easier if the car was upside down...

or
pull off all the old stuff (metal ring and rubber boot) clean it up load it up with grease and it just pops over, no ring needed?
I figured its better than nothing and removing the entire BJ isn't needed. The car had one of those ingalls camber kit's installed on the upper arms with a shot ball joint, I ditched them though for the stock ones from my other crx getting the skunk2's. I didnt like that ingalls kit. The car has Tein Super Street coils, Function7 LCA, not sure what brand the upper adjuster is. stock compensator, put in stainless lines, new oem pads and rotors, just using stuff left over from the other build.. not bad for a beater. Ill get some pics of it up eventually.
NA- why cut it up? why not sell the shell, keep an EF alive?
I wonder what your neighbors thought, looks like a blast!
-You yank the windshield molding off?!

There was a group of neighbors down the street staring for a while. Cutting a car up in my front yard is probably the most white trash thing I have ever done. We enjoyed ourselves, though.

Btw, if anyone has ever wondered, an auto D series tranny with mounts and starter attached weighs in at 120lbs. I was thinking about trying to ship one so I put it on the scale. Yeeeahhh, that's not going to happen at 120lbs.
Nice. That's how my old Integra went. Chopped it up and recycled. I wonder if any of it was recycled into soda cans and came back to me at one point.
You leave the stock boot and ring on and add extra grease?

i've done both ...whatever fits better. usually i'm just covering a slight rip in the boot, and keeping crap out.
I for one hate those stupid ES ball joint boots. Great way to let water and dirt in. They dont utilize any sort of clip/ring to hold the boot tight. If the joints are still tight, do what I do and just buy new boots from Honda. And yes, new oem balljoints are NOT cheap..dont bother with aftermarket, they crap out within an extremly short amount of time. After you fork over the cash for factory pieces, the difference is amazing.
Well they pop'd right on, literally took me ten minutes to do both sides.. lower ball joints and steering arms, the old boots were just real shot and this was quick, easy and free b/c otherwise I would have tossed those covers.. only down side, one of the ball joints is completely shot b/c its spinning and not tightening, had to get under it with the impact and blast it tight. and maybe that I had no idea how much grease to put in.. dont think too much will hurt, little squirts came out while tightening, so im guessing it just adjusts itself.
Granted I can see how they let **** in.. but for the ease of sliding it on and off, no clip.. no damaging the boot pulling it off... it would be easy enough to check clean and replace every so often, I remember cars coming with grease fitting on the joints.. so I would compare it to that.. Seems worth it, you may just have to change em' every year!

Okay, Im in last gear trying to get this car ready for sunday. I got the LS throttle cable.. used a type r bracket.. it works, well i think it works.. it bolts up without making any ghetto fab brackets!
Besides the parts guy messing up and ordering the wrong wheel cylinders for the rears, I think ill be rolling the beater around by friday night. Appreciate all the quick pointers and help with some of these noobish questions.
