I assume civic and crx hinges are the same... We dont have pullaparts around here anymore.. junkyards, but they never let you in to just see whats there.. i call once a week to see if they even have a 91 civic/crx but i have to ask for each part specific.. ill keep trying that, not sure how much they go for but if you happen to see a set at one of your pullaparts, please, please, please grab em for me, ill paypal ya immediately.

I guess I should explain why im looking for hood hinges... long story short. Got the beater done with less than a hour to go before I had to head out to the track... I decided why not stop by a local exhaust shop and have them weld a flange on the 2.5inch piping I had and throw it on the beater.. sounds easy enough. so the guy wont let me leave his shop without a cat so he bolts my old **** back up after fitting the flange on and bolting it up and tells me to bolt it on at home or at the track, no biggie.. (later come to realize he shortened the pipe and it doesnt fit anyway!) but as I leave his shop I get maybe a block or two away at most and my hood flys up on me, shattering my windshield and making my hood look like a snow sled. The hood came up so fast I thought I went blind, glass flying into my face and all over the interior... Im guessing his tech or whomever poped my hood thinking he was going to need to get to the header, I dont know.. whatever the case.. had to wait roadside for a friend to bring me a 10mm to remove the hood (wouldnt even come close to closing at this point)... and drove home without a hood and a windshield that looking through makes you feel drunk. So... end of the story, I made it to the track in another car, but I was left with no hood, shattered windshield, and my hinges are bent like bananas.... oh yeah, and the exhaust doesnt fit.

Hmmmmm..... this car used to be yellow, Y49. I guess even after painting it black the curse is still there...

Thanks fella's.
hatchbacks have a glass panel, not sure if you knew that already or are you referring to size. And the hatchback sunroofs hide away into the headliner while im pretty sure the crx just tilts up and out( correct me if im wrong) so im assuming the assembly is way different between the two

Damn hotsauce! I would have gone back to that shop Immediately and made them pay for that ****. I'm probably going to another pullapart in two weeks. I'll pm I then and see if u need them still. All the ones near me have 2-4 EFs and I wouldthing thbhinges are interchangeable. They sell stuff cheap as dirt too. I lef with a front crossmember with radius rods, bumper support, sway bar, 5 relays, 2 resistors and a bunch of nuts and bolts for $35. I was ecstatic!

Thats right, Im sorry I forgot the hatchbacks have glass roofs! Thank you for that refresh!

B16- I did go back today (calmly, now that ive collected my thoughts) The guy there is really cool actually and the first thing he asked was what I ran at the track, Hes going to hook me up with some stuff that I need done, the windshield is no biggie considering I wanted to replace it anyway and the hood, well that Ill hang up as memorabilia I suppose. Hes going to fix the piping for me as well... kinda a barter system so to say.
I would KILL to have a pick and pull style junkyard near me! that is a steal for those parts.. you should be ecstatic! Ill be in VA this weekend, maybe I can find a pick and pull there.

On another noob note- I found a local guy with a brand new koyo aluminum full rad for a crx.. will that fit with the stock crossmember? and mount in the stock location? hes letting it go for cheap just not sure if I need an aftermarket traction bar to mount it.

I dont get how the hood flew up. There is a safety catch/hook that is engaged even if the hood gets popped. I remember leaving my hood popped one time and going for a drive. I was on the freeway and after hitting a few small dips in the road I saw my hood flutter a little bit. I leaned forward and looked over the dash and could see the hood was popped! It never flew up and that was with me going 65+ mph. The safety catch saved me. Where's your safety catch hotsauce?

I've done that a couple of times as well. It takes me 20 minutes to even get to the interstate too. I drive 65 on the road to the interstate and got about 5 miles down the interstate before I noticed the flopping and got skeered. Nber had it fly up on me luckily. When I was a kid my dad had a wagovan an the hood flew up on it once. Scared the crap out of us. Lol

I know what your saying man, The safety latch is there.. really hard to say what went wrong, I had no problems driving the car there, but not even hitting 40 on the way out and it came flying up like someone turning the lights out on me! almost scarier than a car accident! possible that they had it open and layed it down lightly not catching.. or even just a old latch that didnt want to hold on anymore.. ill be sure to replace all the parts associated!

Its rare to have someone else working on one of my cars, ill remove a part and bring it somewhere if I need something done, it was just easier to have the guy weld the flange on while having the pipe on the car to line it up with the header flange.. Lesson learned though.. always check everything before you leave a shop, I blame it on myself rushing.

I can tell you how.

It's happen to my 3 times already lol
in fact last year right after I got my hood painted.

The catch in the T-bar (the metal piece that holds the hood spinged pen15 shapped thing) can get stuck. Mine does. It has something do to with the wire not going back into place after you pop your hood.
If that T-bar catch doesn't retract like it supposed to when you close your hood and try to pull it back up the hood won't latch won't catch.
You may have to reach your hand in your bumper and tug on the wire everytime you latch your hood down

My TE37's came in tonight!

Can't express how stoked I am...

Now I'm on the lookout for some tires....I think Azenis get my top vote so far. I really want some tires that I can take to the track and still drive around on the streets every once in a while too.

Yea, very strange. The safety catch 'catches' no matter what as the weight of the hood is enough to engage it. Tough break either way. Its also very rare to have someone else work on my car too. For example, I need a new exhaust tip welded on but since I dont have a welder I cant install it. I know it would take a muffler shop 15 minutes, but I just cant bring myself to have someone else do it, LOL. I will wait 'til I buy my own welder and do it myself.

Looks like GM is having a similar hood latch problem.

Hhahaa, yeah.. welder is on the top of my list, its just pricey for a good one. I keep my eyes open for used ones locally. I also would like my own tire machine!! I hate loading my daily with 4 rims and tires to pay some D'bag to throw em together and scratch em up.

Yeah, went to get the radiator for 150$ guy was just cleaning out his garage.. he said he had a tranny that he knew nothing about except that it was a cable.. I got there and saw the stamp, played it cool and he said to just give him 200 for both.. The radiator is still in the original box with the straps around it! I spent months looking for a ys1 until i decided to convert to hydro... now i may get rid of the suja1 kit on the other crx and keep it cable with the gsr guts.. im stoked! tons of options and a fresh radiator for the beater!
