Some companies ship junk anyway. Like AsswordJDM. I've had 2 hoods from them and they were damn near unrepairable. Since then I've been getting them from Jhot. Very nice condition, last one I got only had 2 small dings in it.

Good point. Unless you saw pics of the one you are buying, its hard to say if it was damaged ahead of time. Lloyds' House of JDM is probably not a good place to buy stuff from, but most places sell good products

turn the hood over and pop out the bigger dents. You won't be able to get the smaller dents so just fill those with bondo or some other kind of filler, sand it down the prep

the edges though your kinda screwed on. maybe a pair of plires may fix it a lil but. I know for a fact the bigger dents can be fixed to almost perfect condition

I really should have taken a picture of my hood when it happened to me but i didn't think it would be of any use. My edges were bent to but the body shop fixed that too

Well I just talked to the guy and he told me to take it and get an estimate to have the dents fixed. They are going to compensate me for that. I'd be surprised if it's cheaper than buying another one, though.

Yeah my first hood from Assword was on a skid and it was junk. All my hoods from Jhot were Fed Exed, and good shape. My body man that painted my Old Suzuka Blue hatch had more hours in the hood than the rest of the car........ Then my good friend that works at hasport tells me how he picks up rare **** at local shops all the time.

vega, i hate to say it but: do you have ANY ******* CLUE how hard that is? you post it like its as easy as making a bowl of grits but in fact it is damn near impossible to get it perfect.

HENCE, the reason you will see a lot of us guys looking for "perfect" metal hoods and just giving up and getting CF because perfect metal hoods hardly exist. whether it be road damage or the most common some dickhole sitting the hood down, then hitting it with his fist to latch it completely

thats what im saying. i dont think a lot of people who do not do body work haveethe slightest cclue how large a piece of metal a hood is to get comepletely smooth. they are not flat.

i had one that was perfect with the exception of a pimple on it where someone shut the hodo iwth a wrench on the VC. i took one look at that one blemish and bought a CF hood and sold the metal one for 50 bucks to some kid who thought he could just "pop it out"

Exactly. The placement and size of the large dent concerns me. They may be able to get the dent out, but it'll have to be filled/prepped. Even then it may not look perfect. I might just ask for a refund.

How much is a decent SiR hood going for? Or the price of a new c/f hood. The reason I ask is I bought the whole front end for one price, I don't know what the refund should be.

its will. i dunno him and i dont know the situation so i wont say anything.

150 is f or a ZC. i would be very suprised if you could find an 90-91 si-r and if you do i bet itll be 300.

what i will say it that it seems to me a lot of these companies do not want to front for the materials to make the hoods. they want to take full price orders, take your money, THEN go buy the materials and make the hoods orr whatever the product is.

all i have to say to these ******* is quit selling your idea, and sell a product that exists. if you have to front 3k to make 8k i dont think that should be an issue.

jhp sells CF hoods. also there is a place over here Carbon1 I'm sure they might have some customes ones made but I'll have to check. I asked them a while ago if they could make a copy of my hood but never followed through.

Compositesfab would probably do a copy if there was enough interest. I thought about forking out the dough and having him make me a c/k hood. I just PMed him to see who has the best quality.

Mannn, its sooooo much harder than that!! The hood is constructed from thin gauge metal and is very tough/time consuming like a mother to "just smooth dents out."

. This is why i sold my OEM metal hood that i had some few months ago. To get it *near* perfect i was quoted something like 500-750$. Yea, it wasnt worth it to me. Everyone just said buy a new one, but of course they didnt know it was a jdm hood.

I would love to see some of your guys' "repaired" OEM metal SiR hoods and I'll let u know if its "clean" or not, LOL.

I have the new FI one also, i think me and him received ours around the same time since we were part of the test fitment thing....its of a much higher qaulity than the ViS by far.

ViS CF is the one i used to have on my car before i upgraded to an FI piece. BTW, FI also makes the SiR hood in a fiberglass version as well (which i havent seen, but was assured its fit and finish is exact to their CF counterpart).
