and well, clayton.... you're no longer allowed in this thread. SELL OUT!
when i thought about selling my crx, it was to purchase a z06. not another old beater japanese make like the corolla.

actually, i have been searching for a clean unmolested one for a long time (a few years). it has been down to a 60s vw beetle ragtop or the corolla for a while. i was looking for a rwd 4 seater car since my first car was a 1962 ragtop beetle. drifting is neat at times, but i would rather not trash my car. the initial d premium is a joke, i had to wait a very very long time for a deal like this to pop up and even then i am overpaying some. i am picking up a clean, unmolested car and have been extremely picky when checking out both vw ragtops and the corollas. if i was just a bandwagon person, i would have gone for the cheapest riced out corolla i could find, and settle for a SR5 model. also, i would not bother having the corolla checked out by a shop and doing a full 125 point inspection.
i will admit i have and do watch initial d and like the show. i have season 1 and half of 2 myself and have watched all the seasons currently available online. i have even watched the live action movie. i have been driving curvy roads since i learned to drive and enjoy driving them (not like an idiot though). again i am not in this for a trend (i dont even go to meets, the ef griffith park meet is the only one i have went to)

Nothing wrong with buying a great condition older car, regardless of whats in or out. You are still going to fight the theft thing if u modify the corolla though. Leave it stock and no one will touch it, lol. Lower it and slap on some wheels...BAM its stolen tomorrow.
Also, u know someone is serious about a car when they have a ppi (pre-purchase inspection) done. Its what smart people do when they dont specialize in that particular vehicle.

you probably havent driven an 86.
my old corolla was the funnest car ive driven up to date on a windy road. and ive driven sti's, an exige s, a 02 camaro with a zo6 engine, a sts prepped ef hatch and a few others. but in my cars case it was the worst running engine. all the time. im looking for another, but only if i have my crx as a dd. and only if i can put a f20 in the 86
like fourthgenhatchB17 said they will get stolen as much, cause there the "in" thing right now. and they will keep getting stolen as long as people are trying to sell them for $5000 stock
i would say keep the crx and find a 86 to work on

my ex-gf's dad had a GTS when i was like 16 had one. that was before they were "in". it was a turd then and its a turd now.
ive owned an older turbo 200sx, and yes it was fun to beat around because it was crap. if all you EF owners want to sell your cars and buy these little corollas, sell me your honda goodies and get out of the game. i've jumped in with both feet now on my crx and wrenching every spare moment.

My feelings are hurt...I have an old slorolla too LOL. Honestly, pros/cons are always there. The corolla is a fun car to have and drive but it's the same **** to me. Honestly, it is a "turd" and is slow as heck. But on a twisty road it can really surprise you. The only thing I can really say is the difference between my corolla and my civic is FWD and RWD. Other than that, I enjoy them both equally driving around twisty roads. Aside from performance though, my civic gets better gas mileage (while being much much faster) and the rear seats of a corolla are as pointless as rear seats in a prelude (ankle room only almost).
Something to think about regarding purchasing that (or any other) corolla is the fact that they are no where near as common as your CRX so somethings will be harder to get or replace compared to your CRX.

x2. Old beetles, corollas, and hell, even civics don't exist here anyway. They have long been rusted out and buried alive. If you want rwd fun, just get a miata. At least you can get parts for it, and it's not as likely to get stolen by a man

In general, a lot of great inexpensive platforms that noone was looking at twice before have suddenly become bandwagon cars driving prices up like crazy.
No matter what, even a miata, is approaching that status and you look at the same theft possiblity. And if you go with something obscure, you prolly can't find parts - Suzuki Swift, lol, Mitsu Starion, Celica GTS ('85), and what was that tiny mitsu turbo hatch Jackie Chan drove in Cannonball Run?

agreed. If theft is an issue for you, the theives have already won... Get a properly valued insurance policy and call it a day.
As for non-bandwagon RWD chassis': Miata, e30 bmw, FC rx7's

They all have their own cult following. Doesn't the corolla have a solid rear axel?

Agreed about Fujiwara. I hate drifting...A LOT.
And, I'll be picking up another EF in June (if I can talk my girlfriend into it because technically it'll be her car
)
Sell out or not, I still love EFs.

That's true, for the price of an EF + swap + suspension + misc JDM goodies you could just get a newer car, but nothing feels like driving an EF. Or at least I've yet to drive a car that feels like an EF

If you want to take the heat out of your ef, how do you plug the coolant lines that go to the heater core? The one on the front could probably be blocked with a plug. What about the one coolant line that goes to the passage behind the block?

nope. but I can point you in the right direction...
they used to make (maybe they still do) kits that had a little bracket that sandwiched between your headlight housing and H4 bulb... I have a few of the kits...and thats what I have installed... Or you get creative with a drill
