I use Vibrant vbands or if Im feeling cheap and have time SSautopoop vbands. The HE351CW i have now is close enough to a Vibrant 4" vband to use.For my HX35 just welded a 3" SSauto vband to the Holset flange By the way your setup looks **** great work hope to see it in action at Mission in 09

I just picked up a freshly rebuilt hx40 turbo. After making some measurements the turbo only has a 60mm compressor wheel and I can run up to a 67mm in my class. Is there any compressor setup that I could steal off of a bigger holset like maybe a hx52 or so to get myself a bigger compressor? any help would be appreciated

thinking about going with a used HE351 VGT turbo, what do they max out at? and how would spool time be on a low c/r b16a ?

Until someone makes a controller for the VGT actuator, There is another way.

It was an experiment, but it worked far better than I expected.

How high it will max out. I don't think anyone knows. Its a 60mm inducer with the same measurements as the large 7 blade HX40. The unknown is the hotside.
HE351VE
Turbine
EX 2.357
IND 2.755

Compressor
EX 3.38
IND 2.37

I don't figure to go back to a normal turbo again.

Alright guys I have a question. I have a built B18B getting ready to go in my hatch and its gonna be sporting an HX35W. I recently purchased a Blox Oil Sandwich plate for my oil pressure gauge and my oil feed for the charger. The outlets on the plate are tremendously smaller than the line that came with my charger. What sized lines are you guys using? Is this adapter gonna be a safe way to feed my charger?

As long as you have oil going into the turbo and oil coming out of the turbo I think you will be fine. I used 1/4 inch line though.

I know that it really wouldn't matter about the flow because of the restrictor. However if the inlet side of the oil line is a 1/4 inch and the outlet side of the line is 1/2 inch then the restricted flow on the inlet side would result in an initial fill time increase...meaning I just answered my own question. Disregard my previous posts lol. As long as the smaller feed side diameter matches the diameter of the restrictor then it shouldn't matter the overall size of the line.

I havent ran it yet. Still doing the bodywork and getting some wheels.
I drove it with open DP down my backlane but it was too loud to really stomp on it. I just finished my exhaust w/ 3" piping and resonator/muffler. Queit, purrs like a kitten. Still waiting for my **** from xenocron too. itll be a while before i can tell you how the hy is.

Glad to hear you bought one. Do you know if you have the larger hy from the newer truck or the smaller one?

dont know I will take pics when I get it in the mail I am pretty stoked though. they are good for like 400-450 right? I heard that after 25-30psi they become kind of inefficient because of hot air but i figured if i put spray on the intercooler it wouldnt be that bad or do something with meth. idk I will figure it out.

I plan on runnign mine upwards of 400whp
And no they dont become inefficent at 30 psi. they were built to run at 30 all day long.

I hear they can run at 45psi but I dont know how to read one of those turbo flow charts and am not sure but heard there efficiency range was pretty much maxed around 30psi ish but i figure if I can cool the warm air past 30psi via shooting the intercooler with nitrous or a small 50 shot or something then I would be able to run more boost efficiently.

Does anyone know anything about swapping the compressors on some larger Holset's. I'm looking to swap the compressor off of a hx52 and put it onto a hx40. Will this work?

I got a H1C for $87.. seller says there's no shaft play, in or out, side to side. pretty stoked about it. I know the housing is pretty big but I have some ideas

If you guys had to compare the H1C to a garrett or precision.. what would it be?

I donno i think at 30 psi with a holset hy35 will you will have other issues to worry about.

A HX35 (non w) should not exceed 36-37psi, but not saying that it cant be done and hasnt!

Curious if anyone has ran an Hy35 on an H22 on low boost, around 8-10psi?

Not looking to put down any crazy numbers (around 350 on E85 on stock JDM Internals)

Or should we go the precision route until we have a built motor?!

Thanks

Id say it woudl be a good match. It seems to be a really diverse turbo. From a 1.6L sohc to a 5.9L diesel truck, its happy. I get full boost (10PSI for now) at 5000rpms with a low compression D16Z6 setup. Im sure it woudl scream on your H22, and be extremely fun on the street

So, after all these pages, does anyone actually have a list of what Holset part numbers are what turbos?
I mean, as I have found out, there are a LOT of different 30s, 35s, and 40s out there, not only compressor wheel sizes, but turbine housings too, meaning searching out exactly what you want can be a ****ing gamble to say the least!

Could people post their turbo part numbers, plus the basic spec (comp wheel inducer dia' and turbine cm2 number would do)? Would be able to make a useful list!

30s, 35s, and 40s with 16cm or less housings id be particularly interested in, seems there a ton of different ones even on the common engines 6BT (HX35), 6CT (HX40), 4BT (HX30), so we cant even just go by the engine its on!

Also, HX30s, do some come with ported shroud inlets? Ive never seen any? Also, 35s and 40s, they ALL come with ported shrouds I take it? All the ones ive seen have.
