Nice buy!

This is quite a frequent topic so i copy/paste from FAQ https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=766629

Unfortunately, light and indirect questions will get you nowhere. You gotta be more specific.. but topics below may help some..

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First Modifications. What to do first/next to my ITR. There is no best answer on what you should do (Many of these topics include replies to search and welcome to honda tech, pointing to research and leading nowhere or just personal preference). If you stay away from general questions on this topic and ask something more specific, you'll get better replies.

I have been driving my ITR since 1997 when most of people on this board don't know what an ITR look like or feel like. To answere your question, learn how to appreciate what it can reward you as you KNOW how to push it to it's limit. once at the limit and you feel like that is not enough then by all mean mod it TO YOUR LIKING. For me, shreding 200 pounds off the car feel like you just add on 15 more horse. Good luck.

you should burn it to the ground

Just enjoy it stock for a while, blow up the motor, rebuild it, get bored with it, then turbo it, get tired of the turbo, go back all motor, then just keep it around as a daily driver.

So far I am just about to do the turbo phase of the above sequence...

Leave it stock and enjoy the car, IMO.

When I eventually get mine *looks around*... I'm definitely gonna keep it stock and learn how to drive, first .

Do like the others have advised, keep it stock a while and get your worth. Then when you feel it necessary for a mod(presuming you get a good alarm first, preferably 2 way, and other forms of security) then I'd recommend a CAI. Good luck with what you do, and have fun

You can have plenty of fun with it stock. Buy some tires and an alarm. I would pay it off if you havn't already.

don't mod it yet, best thing is to learn to drive it and spend some money on road courses/driving instruction....so much fun and you become a better driver at the same time

If you're going to mod it then make sure you have a beater to get you around because stock the car is amazing and reliable. Once you turbo it say goodbye to reliability and hello to towtrucks or flatbeds actually for an R.
