Im getting PIC bushings put in after winter. Cant wait. My car is going to be solid at Auto-x and be really nimble and regain a lot of comfort for the street. Should be good!

Thats because he messed with the preload thus giving more room to go lower but at the same time compressing the spring makes it ride stiffer so thats why. He has little stroke room.

LOL I just try to share the knowledge and 1st hand experience so that ppl dont make mistakes, etc.

These are stiff coilovers you know, I have no problem with that but Im sure someone prob does when every1 online said theyre perfect for street lol. Dont want them to get something expecting another thing.

Anyone autocross the Type Ones? I am looking to get a low budget suspension set up for my daily driven 96 GSR Sedan that is comfortable enough for daily driver duties AND will also be autocrossed on the weekends. I am thinking F&F Type ones with ASR brace/24mm rear sway set up. Looking for some feedback, want to make sure these are decent for autocross before I spend $600

you are right though. coilovers are stiff. being low with soft spring rates, dont make driving any easier.

i did mess with the preload, but in order to fix the slack at the spring i added a tophat(very mild) to compensate the slack.

all im saying is my car isnt track worthy period. just for the looks.

I plan on doing Auto-x in the spring with them. They are stiffer in the front and you need to rotate the rear in autocross so I think that with the ASR 24mm and sway bar will stiffer up the rear a lot and help it rotate well. From my experience taking curves on the Type 1s, they understeer at the limit, especially since my Si has an OEM 22mm sway bar up front. I've been considering the ASR combo and people tell me 24mm is a lot so I really do feel that its a great setup because you have good turn in due to being 10k and then the rear is softer at 6k will follow the car but if you are to turn really tight the rear end should surely oversteer.

I can only speculate that this setup will work well. I know a friend who autocrossed on these, I'll hit him up and see what he says.

This would be a good setup for sure but maybe you should look into the Koni/GC combo. Thats a very good setup for the price for auto-x. Thats what most guys run anyways. Its $890 shipped atm.

Thanks, I know that the koni yellow/ GC with custom rates ould be more ideal for autocross, but my main goal for this set up will be comfort/lowered for my daily, and enough damping to be fun at autocross on the weekends.

Yeah thats my goal too. However I'm not too happy atm. I drove through a ****ed up road at like 5-10mph and man that **** was a rough ride. Granted its not your average road, it just shows how stiff the coilovers are. I suspect its not the stiffness of the springs per se, but rather the dampening. Therefore the suspension doesn't really stroke (move up or down) and just hops over bumps.

Kind of like riding a bike that has shock absorbers and one that doesn't. You go on every bump and the bike feels solid and you have confidence to take a turn at speed but your *** hurts lol. Whereas if it has shocks, it take the impact out of bumps for a more comfortable ride.

If you do get them you will see, they just skip over a lot of bumps but thats what stiff coilovers are supposed to do. That way the tires will keep contact with the pavement as opposed to being in the air and not to mention eliminate unnecessary body roll to keep the car planted.

Its great if you're going to do performance driving but roads are always going to have bumps no matter where you go so it has to absorb those bumps. Especially for a daily.

These are pretty good to go slammed though, they're so stiff haha. The car will rarely move enough to bottom out unless you hit a sharp bump.

Probably feels like your driving on just springs and bouncy as hell.

Sounds like a thud/clunking noise when going over a bump, pot hole, etc. its not very bouncy to tell you the truth. It is a change from how it was before seems like the suspension is having a lot more travel now when driving. When i push down on the trunk seems like it's very easy to compress the suspension compared to the other 3 sides of the car.
