The Official EF Discussion Thread
I think you will be fine running the regular konis for a while, but if you want the most optimal setup, the "race" valved konis will be the way to go. You can send in your regular shocks to be rebuilt with the race valving down the road as well. The only thing GC will allow you to do is raise/lower your car, you still pick your own spring rates, and the rates you have sound pretty decent. However Im not sure you can run the GC setup with that particular set of springs anyways since they probably are not the short type the coilovers use.
You're correct, these NS's wont work on the GC set up - too tall a spring. I just figured the GC setup was the easier way to pick a rate that wont blow the shocks.
If the NS's were a good pairing for the shock, I'd keep them on there since I'm most likely not going to adjust too much. If the cost to rebuild isnt bad, then I'll keep the NS's on there and rebuild when needed.
Do you guys think the NS spring rate is okay? I'm used to dailying some pretty stiff susp setups on my rabbit and GTI before - my wife even actually liked the ride as well.
He went on to say that I do not have an issue of blowing out mine with those spring rates, just be aware that I'll already be in the upper range of adjustment with the OTS valving, so for example, I may not like it at full soft with these springs vs a 400/450 lb spring.
I think I'm okay then. I figure if NS has been selling the Cup Kit forever now, that would have come up. If for some reason I dont like it - I can either rebuild as recommended or go with the GC setup with a lower spring rate.
What do you guys think about the spring rate itself? I ran 400/450 on my old CRX previously.
Im running 10k/12k on my EF, but I dont daily it. Its not a horrible ride, I actually like it when Im on good roads. But if your roads are crap, its not going to be fun.haha
Roads actually arent too bad around here, i do daily duty in the civic (streets/freeway), auto X, and 1 open roadcourse event (really liked it and want to do WAAAYYYYYY MORE!), lol.
Okay, i seem to be in between both of you guys. I actually dont mind the ride right now, but the springs are too much for the bilstein HD's so i get some extra bounce.
I'll try it out - on my old 16v GTi i was running Bilstein Group B Roadrace struts front and rear with Shine Motorsports springs all around which were 500F/350R and I loved it, was able to run 15x8's with fat tires and no rubbing even with a full car so I think it'll be fine. My main fear was blowing out the Konis and since that isnt an issue according to them - I should be good.
i'll let you guys know more after I install them.

I went to start the 1991 civic Si today, but the alternator squeals alot and loud and smokes a bit..
the sound goes away when I put water on the belt/alt.
I need to leave a trickle charger on it !!
It goes away if I leave it running for around 1 minute until the alternator is charged.

I plan to run the TNA wing solely so that I dont have to drill holes into my EF9 or USDM wing. The TNA wing mounts directly to the oem wing location and you remove your oem wing.

Yup, ill probably order one as well. Hopefully they will have carbon fiber versions still. When I talked to the owner of TNA he said they were made by vis. Which is pretty cool. Haven't heard anything bad about. Plus Charlie has one.
I dont think they're using greg's with his permission.
Coop, Presidential - i looked on the site and dont see the wing listed, only lips, you guys have a link?
Rob. other than the CRX, do any of the others in the fleet see regular use?

Pulled the 91 Si out of the garage for the first time since my son was born. Put a battery and some gas in it and it fired right up. Washed it, did an oil change, put it back away LOL.
