The Official EF Discussion Thread
Bought some various brands of oil filters today for my 1990 CRX and 1988 Civic.
I found these at a local Automotive parts store here in Toronto.
Here's some pics and prices that I paid.
1. Mann ML1002 - Made in USA - Paid $4.95 each

2. Mahle OC330 - Made in Austria - Paid $4.99 each

3. Baldwin B1402 - Made in USA - Paid $6.60 (For CRX)
(notice how much smaller in size it is)
4. Baldwin B161S - Made in USA - Paid $6.99 (For Civic)

5. Bosch 3312 - Made in USA - Paid $5.99

I run Amsoil OE 5W30 synthetic.
I run it till 10,000 km on 1 change and the oil is still somewhat clean/clear still !
I remember with conventional oil, it would be quite dirty and really black with 6,000 km ! I think using a quality oil filter means everything more so that what oil brand you choose.
Here's a Mahle OC330 cut open

wow Rob, I have to hand it to you, you do your research. Now the million dollar question -
which do you recommend? Do you have a favorite for traditional oil vs synthetic?
And Adrian, have you seen these?

found em at good win $129/ea

adrian is taking ova this thread. lol
as for oil filter. Back in the earlier NA days, I've always used honda filters.
Since I went turbo I change my oil much more often (after every 3 events or every 1,000 miles which ever comes first). I tend to spend more money on quality oil (BP 40w) & just get your regular wix filter. I never really dove into what the inside of a filter looks like.
It's been working fine for me. I guess maybe the real impact can only be seen over the life of the engine... after say +100,000 miles and granted someone used the same oil/filter brand during oil changes.
Thanks for sharing rob.

There's two filter sizes spec'd for D/F/H/B/K Honduhs, the (Purolator) 14610 for Civics/Integras and the large "S2000-spec" filter #14459. But if you pop the part numbers into a interchange search, the two filters swap.
Go to Pep Boys (Or Napa, etc) and bring up a 92 Civic in the computer and it'll spec a 14610. Type L14610 back into the computer, click "interchange" and the L14459 will pop up.

I run Rotella T6 (5w40) and a Purolator PureOne filter in all of my current cars/cars I manage oil changes on. T6 is cheap but pretty damn good synthetic oil and the PureOne's have leik 99% effeciency and have that grippy gold finish on them.
The 5 hours included a full interior detail, waxing the paint and replacing the middle lense.
Can you guys point me in the direction to verify if this is real? This would fit my 89 si perfectly. I am mainly concerned with the cost. Would probably order the PCI rails for them as well if legit.
