Could the relay and pump both have gone bad?
The pump will only prime for a few seconds after the key has been turned to the ON position. If you listen carefully, you can hear the pump for a brief moment. To keep the pump energized (engine off) you'll need to provide the pump with constant power.

Quick and easy test: Leave the fuel line disconnected at the rail or filter, turn the key to ON, and fuel should spray (watch your eyes in case you choose to stand over it while someone else turns the key, lol). If it does not, you may have a bad pump.

Damn, and I just replaced my main because it wasnt showing power to the pump and no resistance at the relay. But I had that exact condition - wife cranked it, fuel line to filter was disconnected, no fuel output.

I think Someone tried to post why I didnt use the drain as I was shown. Reason was that I just disconnected the line at the filter to see if anything was flowing in the system before I went further. I figured if I pumped it out that was since it was open, I'd go with it - and a friend had mentioned he busted his release valve and had a hell of a time after because of that. Either way I thought if the bump was indeed bad, I'd have to drop the tank anyway. Thanks though gnxpro24

I suppose you could remove the tank in order to drain the gas but you dont necessarily have to do that to change the pump. Fyi, the tank only needs to be lowered, not fully removed, for pump replacement.

Oh do tell?! I didnt know that, I thought, and from what I saw in the book, I HAD to drop it. Yeah, true tho, I figured if I had to, I'd just tip it and drain it, lol.

Question - Has anyone here done their own rust removal from a tank using electrodes? I saw it mentioned on Cafe Racers the other night and think I should at least find out more if I end up needing to do it.

I think you'll know where you stand when you lower the tank and remove the pump. I removed a pump from a crx after sitting for like 10 years and the amount of corrosion/rust was nuts! It required a new tank, which the owner didnt want to do, but thats another story, lol.. Its pretty obvious how the tank lowers once you remove nuts holding the straps in place. A second hand with a floor jack wouldnt hurt, although I have done it by myself. Much easier with a second person standing by though.

Placement with single wire O2's can be an issue. There is a reason the single wire O2's were placed closer to the cylinder head, versus further downstream like yours is. IMO, it's not that big of a deal, just as long as the CEL doesnt pop up during a smog check.

You dont have to drop the tank to drain the tank.

You take the bolt out of the bottom.

that is what it is there for.

You have to drop the tank to replace the pump.

Fellow EFers, I've been out of the loop for awhile. What's the going rate for a set of HX wheels these days? My boss just bought his son an HX, and he is thinking about putting a set of wheels on it. They are pretty much like mint condition. I would say 9/10 at the very worst. I can't find any on ebay, or on the first 10 pages of the classifieds here. Do people still buy HX wheels?

Im relocating my fusebox to my trunk beside the battery. The stock alternator wire is about 8 gauge. What would be sufficient to run from the engine bay back to the fusebox for the alternator? One person said they use two 6 gauge wires to equal the amp flow of 0 gauge but that seems like over kill. Would 1 6 with an in line fuse be sufficient?

whats the condition of the interior and exterior of the car? $600 isnt bad unless the car looks like a piece of crap

Any opinions on aluminum radiators? Best bang for the buck, what to stay away from, etc.

LOL, neither do I at the moment. Car I picked up has the cat removed, some aux smog devices unplugged (have to figure out what), pre DC- Mugen header clone and a no name intake.

I have to get that all sorted before I can smog it.

Edit: Which reminds me, where do you guys get aftermarket stuff at? None of the shops i used to deal with are still around. Who has good deals?
