I guess just using some quality caps will do the job.. appreciate the advice.

If anyone has a plug for the upper that they can pull off an old head that would be sweet!
Yes, just cap that one off. As for the part number...I dunno...maybe 90001-PM3-003. It's titled "28mm drain plug."

Baby #2 on the way.

So I guess that hack post from earlier may actually come true...

First thing for sale Recaro Bucket

I'll be making a new Ultimate for sale thread that will be updated as the time passes and I figure out exactly what I'm going to do with the hatch.

yeah but for some reason I'm sort of happy. I want to hold on to some stuff but I can't figure out a good reason why I should other then just being greedy and cocky and prideful. Like the Mugen bumper. I would love to make copies of it first before I sell it so I can monoplize on it, it would be great income for the future selling them. But that would mean I would need to spend money to make money. Or I can just sell it and let someone else take all the credit...

But it give me a great excuse to finally pick up my Imprezza...

I don't we'll see
I'll slowly leak stuff out.

I've seen that plug and have thought about doing that for my catch can set-up (that I'm yet to install). Let me know if you do it.

Is it as simple as just pulling the box out and putting the plug in?
Wish there was a list of pro's and con's! I have a MFactory catch can that looks like it may be collecting dust for some time... I will definitely keep you updated.. or let you know if I find out anymore info on it.

That one labeled "manifold" goes to the IACV.

Yes, it is that simple. But, how are you going to vent the pressure out of your block? that's something I never understood about the Z10 catch can setup...

I wrote manifold/ but after looking at it on my motor I saw that it goes right towards the IACV, didnt feel like going back in to paint! close enough though.

I dont understand catch can set-ups much to begin with... call me a noob, but I always assumed it was more for turbo applications. would love to be enlightened.

Not just for high hp....for track use as well. Catch cans are integral to letting that oil and presssure go somewhere under hard cornering, especially when I run 4.5 quarts in a 4 qt. pan. I disengaged oil pressure for vtec and don't even run the sensor anymore because I had issues pre-pcv set-up.

If you run a catch can (with a breather) then it's no biggie to remove that black box.

I understand the track use of a catch can, almost similar to the concept of a baffled oil pan for track or drag...

so how do you cap off the black box hole and run a catch can safely, just use a catch can that has a breather and not just a can?
where should you be running the catch can from on a NA motor?

Hmmmm, good questions. I always ran a line from my (non-breather filter) to the intake arm (N/A) or the pre-turbo intake, then ran the other line to the breather nipple on the VC. On that same line, I T-ed it to the breather box on the block. Best illustrated by this picture I found on HMT years ago.

My question is, what are the functional difference in the catch cans with and without the breather filter???

seems like a lot of extra stuff... and what if you remove the "black box" and cap it with the z10 plug? and what if your catch can has no breather on top?

Great picture.. just trying to understand this all the way.

I went with the MFactory catch can(no breather)

If emissions are of no concern, Id have to say go with a 'vent to atmosphere' catch can. Otherwise, the oil vapors/fumes must be routed back to the engine and get reburned, where they could negatively affect the combustion process and gum up the intake manifold.

Check out this site... HOW TO on OIL CATCH CAN w/out breather: http://c-speedracing.com/howto/catchcan/catchcan.php

Im assuming rather than using the black box or just plugging it with the z10 plug You can install a nipple on there(assuming its the same for all b series) and run a line from the catch can-then to the manifold?

I have ZERO concerns about emissions.. My car wouldnt pass an inspection in ANY state, legally.

If your catch can doesnt trap the oil vapors, it isn't doing its job. you should stuff some steel wool into the catch can as well if it isn't baffled.

Bottom line, in an ideal scenario you dont want to reroute it back into the engine. IMO, its not 'clean' air.
