The Official EF Discussion Thread
He's had that CRX for 4-5 months or more now right?
Snapped some pics yesterday of the project and my daily together. I swapped the wheels around for now. The black wheels are 15x7 et 30 Rota RB and the Gunmetal ones are 16x8 et 20 Rota RB (yes I like those wheels). I had the 15's on the civic and the 16's on the GTI previously with some spacers in the rear.
Now the GTI sits on the 15's and the civic on the 16's. I thought it looked interesting. In both cases I think the RB's look better on the civic. Rebuilt RM's are in the GTI's future.
GTI Before

Now with the change up

Not done with either car by a long shot, but I like 'odd' cars.

I want +30 15x7 wheels
but I want them for free
16 on a EF or always a hit and miss
sometime they look to big and sometimes it looks perfect
The BBS on the crx I didn't know they were 16 and looked flippin awesome
Need a side shot of the RB's though

oil coming out my exhaust...rings or seals? i have about 65k miles on my engine and i know my valve seals need to be changed, but when i revved my engine in the driveway, there was a small spray pattern of oil that came out my exhaust...don't think it was soot
does it blow any smoke?
Converting is a PITA and expensive. You need to buy every component new in oprder to do it right. Car Quest sells something called Freeze 12 which is a R-12 replacement. Works fine. Most shops should be able to get a hold of something similar.
that's not true at all, to convert a system from R-12 to R-134A is relatively simple and not at all expensive but must be performed with an a/c machine that shops only usually carry. All of the refrigerant must be drained from the system and then the R-12 fittings must be replaced with R-134A fittings. Its that simple. Don't miss inform

Meh, I did just that and my a/c won't work now. I have a full charge, but the compressor won't turn on. I still need to jump the pressure switch to see if that has anything to do with it...
Otherwise, I'm stuck and don't want to spend anymore money.
Well I cant say what your exact issue is obviously I have seen it done time and time again. Many shops try and tell people and charge people for it as if it were an expensive procedure but its not, I have done it myself.
I feel like theres more pictures of VW's/BMW's in here now than EF's!
The most expensive part of the conversion is getting the AC re-charged. most shops charge about 100$ for it around here.... and thats after the conversion.(whatever that costs you) I found the cheaper alternative of rolling down the windows to work everytime!
