The Official EF Discussion Thread
yeah. but wouldnt rim size play a role in misleading results. i had the y1 in right before i pout the ys1 in. every gear seemed the same besides 5th. but i could be wrong.
the trans is still in my car.thats another thing haha.im not gonna pull that trans until i know what im doing with the diff

Its probably a vtec YS1 that you have. Whats your rpms at in 5th going like 75-80? Should be pretty damn high, like upwards of 4.5k+.
Using them for daily driving? Why not? Most of your stopping power is in the front though. Use shitty pads in the rear and decent ones up front if you can.
I now have a complete EF a/c system (Sanden) for sale if anyone is interested.
Ehh, you'd know if it was an LS or a vtec trans pretty fast, regardless of rim diameter. I thought you had the trans out of the car, which is why i suggested what i did, b/c I wouldn't waste the time of installing it in a car to find out what trans it is. Too much work...easier to split the case and get your count on.

its not that high at all actually. probably at 4k at 80
I've heard you need to be careful about running aggressive pads with those Brembo blanks. My brother used some EBC pads with his and they chewed up his rotors pretty quick. Just what I've heard. *shrug*

Couldnt you just hold down the pintle on one of the shrader valves? Im sure the system would empty within 3-5 minutes or so.
I agree with boosted though, and think about his...if you have the old school R12 stuff, some places *might* even pay you for it! Its a bit more costly than 134a and can be harder to come by.

I'm not paying some Joe 300-400 to install it all for me, I just need to know what to put in place for him to retrofit it. I have a friend at Acura who may help out with evacuating the lines, but most likely it'll be a DIY process.
so...
*purge schrader valve wherever it's located
*unhook soft part of the lines right by the header
*pull out the compressor along with those soft lines
*oil up new compressor spin by hand 30 times or so
*put seals on lines
*swap out driers
what else.
Wait i have a tranny questions
my 4th pops out when i'm doing turns and only then.
What would need to be replaced??
Trying to purchase all the parts needed before i take it out.

say i have a bare head, all apart. I want to clean it as well. Will aircraft paint remover works? I know i done this to my bare y8 manifold and it sure cleaned it up like new. Will it hurt anything? Seem like the easiest way to get all the carbon build up in the exhaust port and intake side.
i wouldn't use paint remover
use a engine degreaser or carb cleaner. That stuff works perfect for motor and as far as i know no harm or damage.
Then just pressure wash it after that.
Lets say you use the paint remover and don't get it all out...
Might cause a problem setting on the metal like that for a long period of time.
I hate when your order a lot of parts and you get all happy then you check your bank account and you have (EDIT)$17.23
Hahaha good thing tomorrow is pay day
