thats true, but the tach doesnt bounce. the engine dies and the tach drops to zero. I thought it would be the igniter also, but it does the exact same thing with two other distributors. I have had igniters die on me before. The car feels strong and it has yet to do this to me while beating on it. Mainly just cruising or slow acceleration on the highway. </TD></TR></TABLE>

i just thought of this from a while ago. ive heard of the tps having dead spots in it. usually at where you cruise most. when you hit that dead spot the ecu thinks you closed the throttle immediatly. maybe that.

I need some advice guys. I can either...

1) Get my car painted and finally almost finished.

or

2) Go backpacking through Southeast Asia with friends for a few months.

I'm leaning towards option 2 because I'm still young and actually have time, buuuut which would Honda-tech do?

I vote get your car painted. Asia will still be there when you have the cash again. The Geneva Convention will make sure of that.

if the money you use is not going to complete the car just go on the trip
no point of watsing a trip and then you only have a half finished car

option 2 any day. how often are you going to get the chance to do something like that? Paint can wait on a 17+ year old car.

anyone else heard of this? you think if I just change out the tps it might fix it? I'll do that tomorrow and find out. Today I swapped in a chipped p28 and swapped my chip into it to see if it would fix it, and it still ended up doing it. It took me a while to get it to do it today, but it did. Oh, and my otehr ecu is a P75 not PR4.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I think I'll drop a few more grand into the car to get the quarter panel replaced/some more OEM Honda parts for the rebuild then start stashing money away for the trip . 9 more months until the departure date! haha

What's so bad about it? K&N makes great filters. Not to mention that they can be cleaned/re-used for years (so long as you keep up with oiling them).
