The Official EF Discussion Thread
in all honesty though, the fitment does need a tweak. where the filler comes to the fender is a little smooshed if you know what i mean. i had that problem on mine and it was corrected by exactly what joe said...new oem hardware and brackets. the plastic 5mph bumper slider on my car had become torqued at some point in time and just didn't want to cooperate as much as i needed it to. got a new one, installed it, fender/filler/bumper fit like a glove.
i was talking to a friend about his evo 2 nights back. he hasnt had any reliability issues besides the OEM clutch wearing out in no time.
if you get an evo, look into a clutch as one of your first mods. ive also heard a few people complain that the tires wear out really quickly too.
if i were on the market for a newer car $20,000+ i would think about what i wanted a new car for... speed? reliability? gas mileage? practicality?
if you're going to spend that kind of money... i would seriously look into practicality, payments, insurance costs, and reliability.
an evo has a factory turbocharged engine and 2 more doors with a backseat.
an s2000 has no rear seat, its a high-revving honda, with the option to put the top down on days where your lady wants her hair to blow.
stick with the honda dude..... buy a new SI sedan and throw a turbo kit on it. hehehe

just for the sake of argument...i'd go evo. but truthfully i would get an evo over an s2k. better seats, better all season usability (hardtop in wisconsin>convertible), etc. for me being married with 2 kids an evo is a better purchase than an s.

i would personally get an evo over the s2k too. im a fan of the s2k too. but, i have a 2-seater honda... i dont need two of them.
he should purchase the new SI and put a turbo kit on it...... best of everything.
K motor, 4 doors and rear seats, its a honda.....and add a turbo kit.

sorta friend/acquaintance of the madison guys just traded in his well modded z06 (which replaced his 740il, which replaced his heavily modded evo) with an e55 amg. of all the cars the evo and the z06 were teh 2 i liked the most just for their power and driving style. the 7 was just a big fast german boat and the amg is fast as hell too but just not the same power delivery as the 7liter vette.
either would be practical. doesnt snow where i live. usually me and the gf only. she has a 4 door mk4 jetta. ehhh...... not really impressed with hondas offferings lately.
evo with vishnu tune can get 30 mpg (car and driver got this while testing it a while back). im well aware of the clutch issue. i think a good flywheel, and a double or triple plate clutch should take care of the problem. tires, i plan on having 2 sets. a summer set and a all season, good wear rating set.
this isnt a immediate buy. im doing my research now to eliminate potential choices. that way i know what i am looking for after completing school. choices are:
- Keep CRX (jdm front, glasstop, backseat, bronze tinted windows, maybe a B18C swap)
- s2000 (eliminated due to blind spots, low winshield severely impairing my visibility)
- EVO (high insurance, may be difficult to find a stock IX MR that is not beat on)
- STI (mixed views on styling, safe, mixed views on MPG)
other options i have entertained:
FC3S or FD3S with F20, F22 swap (reliability and MPG)
AE86 with F20 swap (reliability and MPG, overpriced due to drift scene)
my main things are stay 4 cylinder, sporty, fun to drive, relability. this car will be my daily driver, my other car will be a aircooled vw bug.
EDIT: also, the car will not be financed. it will be bought with cash. i learned my lesson with financing and new cars. only used cars for me.

2 beetles will be built. a covertible for GF with a type 4 motor and a ragtop for me with type 4 motor (prolly fuel injection for both for mpg, driveablility). simple cars with most work done by me (other then body work). my uncle who raised me is welder, fabricator.
its the crx theft risk that bothers me. fun chassis, but theft risk is a concern. other then that and No RWD, im pretty happy with the CRX. its a go kart basically which is exactly how my old beetles feel and the s2000 started to feel like.

CRX or EVO.
if you are planning on buying another CRX to be the daily beater and building up your current car even more.
but then again, EVOs can be pretty nice with the right set of mods and wingless.

If I was going to sell my Tundra and replace that payment with another, the only other car payment I'd want is a Porsche 911 or NSX...but alas, my $50k for either will be going towards my MBA

if u ever do, buy an older air cooled one. Much more fun to mod and play with, not to mention easier on the wallet (compared to a newer one), LOL.

old air cooled cars are classic. i would love a old aircooled 911, 912 or a 550 spyder replica. parts are pretty expensive though, i prefer to stick with porsche's cousin, aircooled vw. parts are much more readily available.
1 more semester then i can apply for the nursing program. will be either get BSN or MSN.

here is the link for heel toe for crx parts. i think someone in this thread was asking about the cusco strut bar (with adjust able preload)
