DA Integra's Only
hey guys. im having problems with my brakes having a soft/spongy feel to them. im about to buy an usdm itr 1" booster and mc. i was wondering if anybody has done this and if there was any fitment issues? im almost certain that i will have to do some bends with the brake lines but that not a problem. oh and im thinking about doing a legend brake upgrade also so this would help
In this case, it's simple hydraulics. Upgrading to stainless lines would be a MUCH better idea.
I can't wait to push my 16G into 11s. I might even add some giggle juice and push it into the 10s if possible lol.
bottles are for babies
lol
as for the brake debate... i have the 1" master/booster setup and my brakes feel a lot better and i do not have any problem with them locking up faster. only issue i have with locking up is from having one brand new caliper on the pass. side and the old one on the driver side cuz i havent changed it yet. the new one grabs a lil better to say the least lol. i really wanna get some braided lines in the very near future though but ive gotta get tires first

A bigger master cylinder without any increase in piston bore or quantity at the caliper will just cause your tires to lock up faster. You will lose control of the ability to fine tune your braking. Now IF you upgrade to a Legend setup (or ITR or whatever), then the increased master cylinder diameter would be beneficial. Not trying to always doubt you Matty, just saying what I know.

Yes I know that and that's exactly my point! And that's not what I'm saying at all. Let me give a quick lesson in physics. The 1" master has a bigger bore because there is more fluid in the brake system in an ABS Integra (ie more lines and components to fill). So, the bigger bore is to compensate by moving more fluid. Now, if the 15/16" master didn't have enough diameter to apply enough force to lock up the fronts, then maybe an increased diameter would be in order. However, it can. The 15/16" will thus have a LONGER stroke than the 1". The system only holds so much fluid. By adding the bigger master to the stock setup, you've now effectively decreased your pedal travel which eliminates that "sweet spot" where you can manage a lock up situation. Now, if you increase the capacity of the system (ie increase the slave cylinder size, which are the calipers) then you NEED to increase the diameter of the master so that you can apply the correct amount of force. I'm willing to bet that the 60 to stop time of a a healthy stock system to that of the same system with a bigger master will be exactly the same if not better. Why on earth would Honda waste their money on having two different master cylinders if one had superior braking? The price to manufacture a 15/16" versus a 1" master cylinder would be practically null. Each master cylinder was selected based on the fluid requirements of the brake system and Honda engineers felt that the difference was enough that it necessitated the manufacture of two different masters. To summarize, the smaller master applies the same force over a greater distance than the bigger master. It called work, or force over a some distance. At the very best, a 1" master with stock brakes will be the same as the 15/16" but I would bet otherwise.
This can get into really in-depth here which a lot of people on this thread would not want to get into because they're about just putting on lips and dumping the car. Let's not get into the physics as much as the situation in real life. Too many variables will account on what your "sweet spot" is. In the situation of having a Non-ABS DA, I would get a brand new 15/16 HONDA OEM Master Cylinder with new remanufactured calipers, ss brake lines, rotors, and a good pad of your choice for your type of driving situation, and TIRES to match the braking power. A lot of people don't realize their tires are crappy, thus locking up more easier. If you want better brake feel(as in your foot pressing on the pedal with firm feeling and less effor),OEM Pad or close to specs, get new brake lines, new master cylinder with brakes bled correctly and making sure your actual brake pedal is adjusted and firm. Let's keep it simple for the simpletons here
Yes a 89 integra lip will fit a 92 bumper

If anyone else ask's this question no one tell them because it's been asked so many times that everyone who owns a Da should know by now

Damn my car, damn it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he's a noob, play nice!
