got my hy35 off ebay for 180 shipped bought a rebuild kit for 70 and had the rotating assembly balanced for 49. the things like brand new now, no in and out play or side to side play.

ebay is not a bad place to get one as long as you can find a good seller, and ask seller question about the condition of the turbo

no...its not that hard to measure...its a standard t3 flange w/ a divider...is somebody making a split scroll mani?

its part of my next line of projects...a top mount split scroll

well, as many of you know, this thing is HUGE. I got a few runers tacked on and mocked it up. Its fits just like I designed with the 50trim to4e...the HX35 is gonna need a little breathing room so I am going to have to add 1.4" off the headflange in order to center it between the radiator support and head. So its gonna look a little stupid but it shuld be worth it. I found a -3 to 1/4" NPT 90* for the oil feed. Just need the v-band flange for the DP and I should be ready to boost again!

awesome glad to hear someone so close reppin the holset....did you utilize a split scroll mani design? ive been comtemplating building one for my car to see the gains...plus being a/w intercooled it'd help keep under hood temps down w/ colder intake charge...

pics are always nice and dyno slips...prob see you at ned this summer...hopefully my teg will be up and running meaner than ever

no, sure its not hard, I'm just lazy. I have autocad and a t3 flage, so I'll just make the split one.
I believe the advantage of having a split inlet is great, thats one of the main reasons why I am gonna try a hx35/40

becasue I built it for a regular old 50trim t3/to4e. I just got this holset saturday.

After thinking about what I am going have to do to the manifold to make the HX35 fit I think I am going to sell this topmount and then build one that fits perfectly. It might have a divided turbine or it might not. The only thing tht makes me cringe is the turbulance that divider will cause, bu then I see so many setups that have a divided housing on a regualr collecter, making big power. I really dont care about spool up either...

well i took mine and used the die grinder to smooth down the port...can bet about 2" in before its nearly impossible to shape...but i didnt have any problems....the turbo is massive...ive been doing some work tryin to figure out how to make it all work w/ a topmount in my teg w/ a/w intercoolin....

but 3" open dp i hit about 15psi around 4200rpm...only reason to make the mani now a split setup is to hopefully help spool up the turbo a lil faster...ive spoken to numerous people about the effets of the split scroll and the end result is that it cant hurt the performance any more...unless of course the mani is shody...but im just gonna have a fun time making the divided collector look all nice and purdy...and stuff it into that tiny lil space

good luck w/ it...

If i was going to run the divided tang with a regular 4-1 collecter I would port it like you said. What WG setup are you going to use on your split design?

15psi@4200 is crazy, what motor is that? I was expecting 4.5 - 5k with a topmount, 3.5" DP, 3" cat, 2.5" exhaust. Im not sure if I want it coming on that hard at 4200 RPM...EBC time maybe. Smooth Tq = traction, and I want some of that.

Turbulence due to the divider is a non issue with a little porting. Divergent dividers perform well at comparatively wider angles, compared to merge collectors. Just dress the transition.

I've seen flanges with a "wedge" in the center that do this for you! Just takes a little thinking.

im running a 38mm tial....w/ a .54 bar spring....open dp it creeps easily to 10...and then anything beyond that i can control pretty well w/ my avcr....ya boost hits hard...I just gotta get some of the power to the ground now...dam azenies and no traction bars dont help....so thats in store for this coming season...along w/ some M&H street radials so hopefully itll hookup

if you restirct this turbo...it actaully helps a lil...when i run it thru my stock exh...it hooks up and just rips...the exh gases sounds like im shoottin them outa a straw...but 3rd>4th open dp is all *****....traction is there and it just gets up to speed so fast....enought to roll on z06 and a bunch of other kids around the lowell area

and w/ the split design...i was still gonna run the 38 gate paired to both sides...not the best option...but im a budget builder...have done everything myself right...for as cheap as possible...worst case senario is i pick up another 38 gate...

If you aren't man enough to handle a real car like a Honduh, you should just stick to those silly little Vipers you play with.

interesting...I have a 38mm from my old setup that is pretty mint condition. it may be for sale soon. I think im going to do a 44mm...I just love Vbands and good boost control maybe you should swing up to Maine and check out my 38mm and make an offer...We are working on a guys STi right now from your area, he said the drive isnt bad at all.

Is you WG setup in a not so ideal spot or is it primarily just the big hot side coupled with open DP that make for your creep issue?

yea maybe take a ride up sometime in the coming weeks...gonna be busy as all hell building a few setups for some people round here...but maybe a day trip w/ some dyno time...i gotta get some pulls to get my timing a lil better...but thats after i still need to finish re-welding my i/c...buildin my intake box...fixing the exh studs...and re-tuning it w/ crome 1.2 so ill idle a hair better...once thats all done...and my traction bars are finished...to the rollers we go...and its really not that bad a drive....

id say its a combination of both....it creeps due to poor wg placement...and the hot side being a tad large....its great tho...just need some more traction
