the same basically, it wil just spool quicker, but at higher boost levels a housing that small is gonna drop off a bit in the power production department.

I believe 558whp in a DSM on 35psi is the current record with the Mitsu bullseye housing. T3 housing is *marginally* bigger, but not by much. Power production will only suffer with a smaller housing if the housing is excessively small (which it isn't) or the manifold design is crap (which it often is)

A couple of thoughts.....

1)We have the comp maps for these turbos right, but what efficiency is the island on the maps???? Is no one concerned with this? Don't we want to know how efficiently we are using these?

2)Anyone notice that the hx/hy manuals suggest max oil feed pressure of ~5psi? Just curious.

so use an oil restrictor? If IAT are OK then the turbo is ok. 50trim t04e looks miles better than 57trim t04e but the 57trim spools the same and is better everywhere, even though on paper its far less efficient.

What eff % is that island akin to??

It looks like at a pr of 2 (15psi) which is what I will be running this thing flows up to ~52lb/min! ~43lb/min max @ pr = 1.68!
</TD></TR></TABLE>

The 'island' is the outermost edge of the map, with an efficiency of say 60%. I have the rest, but I won't be posting them. The 70% island covers around 1/3 to 1/2 of that map.

For any curious, I emailed the engineer and asked for the same info for the hx35 and hx40. I'll post those up when I get them.

Well, it was in reference to a discharge hole, just one closer to my ***** than my turbine.

Damn that holset engineer, he is trying to have me list my setup so he can "suggest" a turbo for me. Any suggestions on what I should tell him? All I did was ask for the same info on the hx35 and hx40 that he gave me on the hy35.

tell him exactly what you are going to use. a 1.8 liter motor revving to around 9krpm. 8? whatever. Its not like hes going to withold information because of some bias against four cylinders?

Ahh, I just told him the truth "I'm a diy type of guy and would like to figure stuff out on my own, I would like the maps so I can do so." That's the truth to.

Good news guys I just got 3 different hx40 maps. The holset engineer said that the hx35 is just an more inefficient version of the hy35. Go figure. I will post the hx40 maps when I get a chance.
