I've got a stock internal 96 spec JDM ITR with a long geared Y1 LSD Cable tranny in my CRX. I recently bought a HX35W kit local to where I am for a great price, but I'm wondering is the HX35 turbo too large to spool?

I only want to start out running 5psi (it's a weekend car and mostly lapping, I don't mind full boost in higher rpm's, that's where my car lacks at the track is 6000-9000 rpm range, it's a slow car, but can get into and out of the corners with ease)

I'm not looking for big power numbers (hence the 5psi on stock internals), I'm looking to not blow my motor up in the first 2 weeks, and I will be getting this tuned on a dyno by a company who tunes.

Thoughts, ideas and suggestions are much appreciated, my main concerns are:

Is this turbo too big for 5psi? I read here these things breathe well at 15+psi, and I'm nowhere near that yet.

Is it worth it to sell the hx35 and buy something smaller and more in touch with me needs right now?

Thanks!

Josh

Most JDM ITR turbos use something a little smaller for circuit use, regardless of "psi". 5psi on a something 50lbs/min is not even close to its effective range to do anything. Let your tuner decide safe boost pressure levels, as this isn't a supercharger.

Honestly, try smaller (GT2860RS or GT2871R)...

Also, you should make you're own thread with this.... good luck.

Wondering how the .70 and .63 housings flow on the hx35. Dont want to limit my power potential only goin for 500hp. Know a guy that made that on a single around 35psi with the stock 12cm housing. Just want a little quicker response but not loose top end.

What drain size are all of you running, I have -10AN and I believe the oil is pooling inside and causing it to get past seals and smoke.

Also are you running and restrictors? Mine is a HX35 on D16.

try places like Gillette diesel and DppPower if you guys are looking for certain exhaust housings for the h1 or hx holset turbos. they have several different sizes in both W/G and non w/g style

Is anybody using spa topmount with a hx35 b-series motor in an eg? I'm wondering if the compressor will fit. If fit in my dc but the core support is different. I'm putting this same motor and turbo in my vx hatch.

I'm using a 3/4 barbed fitting with 3/4" braided hose. With a 3/4" fitting welded into my pan. Bigger is better. Also I'm using -4 feed line with a restrictor. No smoke, and I'm running 26lbs of boost on my lsv. Have been for 8 months and have probably 5000 miles on it this way.
