Head gasket was not sealing, made 1 pull just on the gate pressure and at about 8500 rpms it sprayed water everywhere but we weren’t sure where. I cleaned everything up and we tested it a little bit and I noticed coolant pushing out of the overflow. Pulled the plugs and they looked good besides number 3 had a little residue. So we are 100% it’s at least the head gasket so we pulled the motor.
damn hope it’s a not anything severe that caused it
It was a JE head gasket that was being used and we found out that it is for sure a head gasket failure on cylinder 3. Not really sure what caused this but a new head gasket is going on, I guess it was a freak accident or something but the motor is going back together and will go back into the car.

im sure you checked to make sure to block was true? I would expect that a head from 4 piston would be done right. I found out my torque wrench was bad and clicking almost 30 lbs less than what it showed, I went and bought a nice digital scale one with warning beeps which allow much more accurate job on install. Think something like that could have happened where the head just didn’t get torqued fully?
Oh... ****... Tell me that is was a questionable knockoff and not the 125 dollar bastard that I've got wedged between my block and head.. JE Proseal?
You've just put me in a panic..

don’t panic, they are a damn good head gasket and what I was recommended to run by CSS themselves
It’s the JE proseal which is recommended for Darton sleeves as well, my motor is step decked and oringed. We are going to test cylinder 3 injectors just to make sure nothing is clogged and I just bought a new emap canister cause mine was getting clogged.
Over 3 weeks with no updates? I'm sitting at the keyboard like
The injectors went out for testing and came back fine, I ordered some things for the harness to add a coolant pressure sensors and a wastegate position sensor. Just waiting for the motor to go back together and back in.
Been pretty busy working on another car I got from the auction but now that I’m done I got a little done on the race car. I built another breather catch can that will be sitting under the car where the stock fuel tank used to be. I had so much pressure that would build up I had oil push out of the catch can up front. Now I did do a bunch of restrictions on the catch can up front and haven’t tested it but my buddy did the same thing I did and it stopped the issues we were having.
This will help a lot because the line will be about 10 feet so I can relieve the pressure and the cool thing is that it will vent out of the old gas filler neck.
Thanks man, it too me all but 20 minutes to get some cardboard and make a template, this one was a pretty easy setup, especially since it doesn’t return to the motor.
