Default 97' Suspension Question

Wanted to say hi, and ask a newb question at the same time. Just bought my 97' used and got a problem if i take turns to fast seems there is a scrapping sound. Figure its the mud flaps, anything i can do to make the suspension harder to prevent that or do i need to take them off. Specific brands would be good because im really new to the whole car scene. Been driving a suburban for the last 10 years.

is your car already lowered? usually the guards don't scrape until you lower it. odds are, if its already lowered, you already have stiffer suspension. lift/jack up the cars and tell us if you see any colors or brand names in the springs and/or shocks. honestly i would just remove the mud guards, they look weak on preludes.

Ill do that when i get back but I doubt it was lowered. Person I bought it from didnt seem the type. Kinda like the mud guards but maybe it would look better off. But might wanna harden the suspension anyway. Any suggestions?

The first step I would take is to remove the mudflaps and see if the noise goes away. Seems logical to me....

If you just want to mess with your suspension, then just start reading and searching and you'll find tons of info. Coilovers, shocks, struts, sway bars, strut bars, bushings, alignments, control arms, ball joints...there's too much stuff to mention in one post.

Much like God, "The Prelude forum helps those who help themselves."

My first search:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1413405
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1414171
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1408595
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1402155

My second search for archived stuff:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1401138
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1394056
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1386540
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1387869
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1379921

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1318221

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1280745
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1264927

Probably most helpful for noises and such:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1396425
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1385983
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1367009
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1358194
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1287287

That's not even close to all of them. If you try a search for scrape, or noise, or knock, or anything else you'll probably find a boat load of those too.

Now, if you'll go back and read, smartass, I didn't have a damn problem with your thread title, in fact I didn't have a problem at all until you got smart... what I did was point you to a place where you could READ and probably find your own answers, or at the very least if you read up on this subect you'd find who answers most often on suspension questions. I'd hit up bad-monkey, or Honda318dx for my first two choices.

We have that thread at the top that says "READ ME FIRST" for a reason. Don't get pissy with me because you don't know what "READ FIRST" means.

You're welcome.

I had a similar broblem, I though it was somthing really bad but it was just that one of the SPLASH GAURDS had come loose. Id lift the car and check. The car has a very big(ugly gap) with stock springs and tires, I doubt it would rub unless a.your shocks are shot or b.the gaurg was loose.
