Default CEL Code After Air/Fuel Gauge Install

Hey Guys, I recently installed an Autometer Air Fuel Gauge. We tapped it into the O2 sensor and after we installed it I reset the Ecu. So after letting the car warm up i got a CEL code right when it finished warming up. I dont have a cel checker so i dont know exactly what the problem is but i assume is has something to do with the O2 sensor. I heared that ur supposed to run the gauges ground to the negative battery side? Is this true? I hooked the negative up so it shared my cd players ground...

Thanx

what year is ur car?

when i put in my a/f gauge i ran it to the only purple wire on the long ecu plug, then grounded to a nut under the dash, and ran the power wire to the radio fuse.

my car is obd1 gsr so might be different...

read this to learn how to check the CEL. dont need a checker, just a piece of wire.

The connector is in the same place for OBD2.
