Build update
Got some parts on the way. I ordered a new passenger fender that will need painted, BP-20 Wilwood pads and DOT4 fluid so I can do my brakes soon. New side mirrors, black carpet, aluminum door panels, rear strut/chassis bar, amber bulbs and amber headlight paint to convert my brights, Skunk rear control arms ( already have adjustable rear toe and camber links waiting, just need trailing arm bushings now) and got Tien S tech springs. I wanted H tech but although several people said they were in stock it turned out the there actually discounted and no one admits it until you order them...
I already have Koni yellow shocks, everything from bump stops to top hats to install them. I also have Otani BM2000 tires in 195-55-15 tires. Will see how the tires do. There a 200 tread wear dry/wet with a 149mph speed rating and were only about $375 out the door for the set. Also got air bag delete and aluminum glove box delete. Unfortunately I'm un able to work on my car we're I'm at. A friend is going to let me do some of the work at his house in the next couple weeks so this project will start moving. I might be moving in the country so this won't be a problem. I can do some small stuff like the interior but suspension and brakes are a no go. Unfortunately none of the apartments in this area have garages and houses cost around 2k+ to rent.
Might be another 2 weekend until everything starts moving. I stretched my self thin this payday and am going to need to buy a few tools for some of the jobs. I already have brake bleed kit and a few torque wrenches but still need flared box end, some socket extension, a drill and a few other tools.
Car has a lot that needs upgraded, maintenanced and repaired but putting carpet back in, fixing the driver's mirror which I broke about 3 years ago and doing a few interior upgrades will hopefully change the feel of the project. I also plan on adding a harness bar, NRG seats and adding a double din stereo with touch screen navigation, maybe a back up camera. Might upgrad the rear view mirror to a carbon fiber to so it matches the side mirrors. New brakes, tires and strut assembly will make the car fun to drive. I only drive a few thousand miles a year, maybe 3k max so am going a little aggressive with the upgres. Will post update pictures as parts get installed...
Got whats shown up today installed. Just easy stuff. Really like the side mirrors. Took a trip across town with them. The blue tint is awesome. Even though there small I can see good out of them. I haven't drove with the chassis bar yet. I'm leaving rear plastics out, going to finish bed lining the reast of rear interior and leave it that way. I like not having back plastics in. I can see if any bulbs have burned out in tail lights from driver's seat. I'm in the middle of switching jobs and looking for a different place so I can do the important projects that need fixed.
Brakes installed with the help from a friend. I can now get tires installed this week. Hopefully Tuesday. I wasn't able to get brake lines installed. The box said 1994-1998 and chassis side of the lines looked different so I didn't attempt. Did flush whole system with DOT4 fluid.
To re cap. Wilwood 4 piston front calipers, Wilwood BP-20 pads and EBC G15 high carbon/silicon slotted rotors. Rear are power stop powder coated calipers, EBC yellow pads and Brembo high carbon solid rotors.
Brakes are bedded in and work great. I would recommend the power stop calipers. My passinger caliper was garbage. There was accesive casting flash around were center clip goes and I had to grind it down to make clip fit. Also threads for brake like were pretty messed up and I didn't have a tap to fix so had to force it and pray... That same caliper didn't want to fit the Ebrak cable through the hole it passed through. Driver's caliper didn't have any of these problems.
Front brake calipers were way easier to install that OEM. I'd highly recommend these. Easier to install pads and easier to install calipers. Went together very quick and smooth.
Unfortunately I didn't drive much. I Took about a 3 mile trip to bed in my brakes but unfortunately I found a screw in my rear drivers tire. I honestly think this is from my job. Over the years I've had more screws and nails in my tires while working at my company than I can count. Working here is also the only time I can remember ever getting screws and nails in my tires. These tires are shot anyway. Brakes grab good cold but you can definitely feel a difference when there warm. It takes less pedal effort when you warm them up.
I will order some lighter Sparco wheels. These are 17.5 lbs. They will eventually be for my winter tires. I will be upgrading to an 11.5 lb wheel.
New black carpet shows up tomorrow. That will probably be next upgrade. I might finish painting rear before carpet install. Rear of car is staying gutted, no carpet or plastics.
I installed new headlights in to low beams. They didn't make much difference due to lights being foggy. Can't wait to fix them. Warmer weather is here so projects are starting to get done. Yeah, I know, wash the poor thing.
Looks sick!
boy I miss the days I drove around in my 98 GSR gutted out !
Brakes look good! I need to do mine soon and order a set of JDM ITR rotors and pads, I wouldn't mind going with a similar setup as yours but I like to keep things simple these days and will keep the stock calipers.
This should get moved to the build threads!

New carpet showed up today from Amazon. It was about $250 after shipping. Went with black. I'm going to let it sit for a few days before installing. The picture was right after un rolling out of the box. I might paint rear interior before attempting to install the carpet in the front so I don't have to worry as much about over spray. Ya never know. Sometimes I'm clumsy. I also need to pull the front interior pieces like center console and to wash the floor good. I'm a little busy with work so may take me a week or 2 before I get it installed but will post an update after it's in. So far, it looks like it's molded OK and has matting in foot area's on underside. I don't remember but I believe this is lighter than the OEM carpet I pulled out. It was a few years ago. Hopefully I can get new seats soon too. Switching jobs on Monday so wish me luck. Hopefully it doesn't slow down the project.

This is with 1/4 tank gas. I weight 200 lbs and the old side mirrors and brakes with a few other parts need cleaned out of the car. Will check again when carpet is installed and a full tank of gas.

Got my new tires installed. There Otani BM2000 in the stock 195-55-15. There a sticky 200 tread wear witu a 149 mph V speed rating while being dry and rain comparable. Going to be a while until I really get to test them on a road trip and see how they ride, stop and grip in corners. These were about $380 after shipping for the set. It was around $205 to mount these and dispose of the old tires though. 😬
I only drive about 2,000-3,000 miles a year so these should last a few years. When I get winter tires this fall I will re mount them on lighter wheels for next year so I'm not re mounting them every summer. I've only had them up to 40 mph so far so can't say anything about them yet. I like how they look though.
I still have trimming to do but carpet is back in the car. I need to split it from front of E brake forward down the middle so it sits flat around tunnel and trim a few areas but it's almost there. Waiting on new seat brackets. Going to wait until I can mount the passinger seat bracket and get center console mounted back in before I fully trim passinger side. Hopefully getting NRG buckets soon. I honestly like having a stripped interior but I feel like people look down on my car when they see no carpet. Like people say about mullets, business in the front, party in the back. 🤣
I weighed the car again but without the passenger seat and a full tank. It was sitting at 2480 with out the carpet. Will weighed again after I get new seats, harnesses and harness bar installed. Hoping new seat will save a few pounds. I'm hoping to eventually get the car down to low 2,400 lbs.
New PLM door panels installed...I have to re do driver's side because there is a connector that's hitting. I'm probably going to have to cut the wires and solder them so everything is flatter. The fit on these is awesome. The holes for the window seal were cut perfectly. They sit flatter to door so interior is a little wider now. All old switches attach. Only complaint is the pull strap to close door. It's facing up. If it gets used it's going to sag down and bug me. I may get a shorter strap. I might make one. The red isn't going to match some of the other stuff I do anyway.
The Otani BM2000 tires so far have been fire. They ride awesome. Car feels more planted and they grip good when warmed up. Same with the brakes. I was able to take the car on a 100 mile round trip the other day on back roads it rained first half of the road trip. Tires did awesome in the rain.
I had to have the wheel bearings and tie rods replaced and an alignment. Normally I would have bought the parts and installed them my self. I wanted to upgrade to 36mm axle. Unfortunately I don't have time to wait and needed the car fixed quickly. Set me back $1500.
On a good note though, I ordered NRG buckets, sliders, harnesses, harness bar, a rear tow hook cuz I'm that old... Ordered some different springs than what I currently have for my Koni shocks. Got H&R OE sport. They drop .75" front/ rear. Hopefully these are close to type R springs. Also got a factory ITR arm reset delete, OEM rear wiper delete plug a Sony double din stereo that has Google maps and a stereo install kit. Tons of stuff to keep me busy as it warms up outside. Also found out my supervisor for the food processing plant I work at works on the side at a tuning shop and dyno tunes cars. He might have me convinced to boost instead of K swap. His friend that owns the shop is really good at fabricating so I might have found people to fill in the gaps for me when my wants, exceed my abilities. 🤟
