if I get the extra cash I would like to rebuild and put on my EX brakes and Teg trailing arms. Does anyone have a good suggestion for lower balljoint replacement? looks like a bitch to try at your garage. who will press them cheaply? Also is there anyway to tell if the hibs are bad before you put the knuckles on the car? Pennsylvania rust isnt kind
You need to put your new LBJ in the freezer while you are doing all this to make it a bit smaller. It makes installation a breeze!
What are hibs?
Lower ball joints are EASY. Get a can of PB blaster, remove the circlip underneath it, give it a good whack with a 1 pound drilling hammer or similar BFH, until it comes up a little. Spray PB blaster on it, let it sit a minute, go out and beat the hell out of it some more until it comes out. After a couple minutes of beating, it comes out. I recommend pull the hub out so you can remove the dust shield, or you will beat the crap out of it inadvertently.

oh, well spin the hub and if it turns easily without excessive noise, use them. It's best to go ahead and have a shop press out your old bearings and put new ones in while you have them off the car so you can avoid down time down the road, but it's really up to you...
So I finally bought the EX MC yesterday from Autozone. It's a remanned NISSIN part. I'm stoked that it is at least a brand honda uses. Damn thing cost almost 3X as much as the MC I just replaced on my dad's 89 sedan. Got his for $30 as a new part with a new reservoir and everything. Mine is just the MC. I've got to put a reservoir on it and it's a reman part...$85
At least it will have a more firm pedal after install...

ey whats up guys...just picked up another civic, 90 4 door ex sedan. Ive always had hatches so im familiar but not an expert on sedans. I was wondering if the hatch and 4 doors share the same suspension, interchangeable?
Wouldn't have happened to pick that sedan up from Austin CL did you?
Glad to know how much I'll be paying for an EX Master Cylinder in the next month, several things to square away before inspection is due in August.

Ok great. Because I've had my 89 si hatch sitting for over a year now...have no one around to help me with Turboedit. So for the mean time, I want to swap some things over from the Si hatch to the EX sedan and suspension is first on my list.
what a GREAT DAY today.
left at about 7 for a far off place on the complete opposite side of chicago..about 105 miles away...the PAINTLESS DENT GUYS HOUSE! turbo setup never missed a beat, chugged away painlessly in traffic, and put a smile on my face. i love having somewhere to go with it.
i traded labor for him...fixed/adjusted a couple windows on his house and then fabbed up a downpipe and a Sound-Performance boost-actuated cutout for the exhaust on a CRAZY ENGINE'd 240sx hes working on.
this dude is the best paintless guy ever. absolutely amazing. 17+ years of experience, and he works for all the midwest auto museums. what a cool dude too. and AWESOME garage.
he got the fender almost perfect. it had a light skim of filler on it from when the rust was cut out 5-6 years ago, and it left tiny dents in that, which will be sanded out. from about 3 feet away it looks perfect. he went over the WHOLE car and got all the dents out too. 5 + hours of awesome work. and his wife even made me lunch. what a guy. basically iv'e got to block sand it and paint it. HECK YES ITS ALMOST THERE.
huge thanks to erich. said it was some of the worst damage hes ever pulled out. LOLOLOL. silly ITR expo.

his STUNNING RB (built, 800 WHP) 240 sx.

i missed a milestone number by 1/10 of a mile. lol. (car actually has about 40k extra miles from when the speedo wasnt working in college.)

first time in the 10 years ive owned it the roof doesnt have a ding. WOWOWOW

he got rid of 5 or 6 door-dings on the drivers side in about 3 minutes. OH MY GOSH ITS MAGIC.

finally breathing pressurized air again. first time since expo 10. it feels like my car again.

paint pics in a few days hopefully.

Those paintless dent removal guys are awesome. when I first got my rex and was still working for Honda, the guy they used hooked me up and all I had to do was his brakes on his truck. Was a solid deal and there good at what they do.. thats one hell of a skill, and it pays well!
Looks good Redzc, get her all set for wekfest.

can I get that paintless dent guys number please? My girlfriends sister's crv got destroyed in the recent hail storm last week. the whole roof, windshield, hood, and tail light got hit up pretty good.
-Na-All-The-Way- Matt and I worked on the sedan this weekend. All we have left to do to be ready to drive her around for the first time is wire up the battery, sort out a few issues with the Y8 manifold "conversion", install the speedo cable, bolt the seats in and button up the wiring for the passenger side headlight/corner light/turn signal harness. Shifter is mounted, wiring to trick the auto harness in to thinking its in park is done, steering column is back in place, all the mounts are in and bolted down, coolant system is buttoned up, and all the tune up items are all done. I figure the next time we get a chance to work on it, we should be ready to crank it up.
