Anyone have tips on how to get the shift linkage disconnected from the tranny? I am ready to drop the motor from the parts car except for this detail. I don't see what I am supposed to do.
pull the boot over the bitch pin back towards the tranny. remove the retainer clip and punch out the pin with a brass drift pin or last time i used a 1/4 torx bit that fit in the hole. honda supposedly makes a tool to remove them.
Not sure if I'd use brass (too soft?). My method is a bit brutal, but I use a steel drift thats sized perfectly (dont recall what size of hand) and my 5lb hammer. A couple of 'love' taps and it comes right out. Worse case scenario, you could drill it out.
I dropped the motor and pulled everything out with the linkage still attached, but I will give it a go when I have more energy. Pulling it all by myself wore me out.
NA, it might be easier to remove the pin while the motor is still installed. Swingin a hammer from the underside has always been easier for me, plus access to the pin can be obstructed from the top.
Bitch pin is easy. Take the bolt that mounts the stabilizer bar to the tranny and use it as a punch. 95801-08045-08 is the bolt I believe, search it up on hondapartscheap.com.
I usually use an old cross point screwdriver and tap it out with a heavy hammer. If that doesnt work, you can use a C-clamp, and socket and a screwdriver bit to press it out. Put the socket over the top of the linkage to provide a tunnel for the pin to slide into as you press it through on the bottom end with the screwdriver bit.
