lol finally get some recognition. 1st take it to a spray off carwash. blast the crap out of it and make sure all the loose stuff comes off. then you can feather back the edge of the old paint. or just sand it off.
a small compressor can handle it you just have to do it slow and be sure you can maintain a 25 or so psi for several minutes. Might think about painting one panel at a time.
btw white is a good color to try this out

I do have 2 hood I can practice on as well, so I guess I found a new step to try.
EDIT - CBE - One more question, my front bumper is currently unpainted, if I do the roller method, what do I hit that with first? Rustoleum primer? on plastic?

Okay question for any of you guys that have done your own paint and body work - CBE I'm looking at you...lol
My car is white and the clear is gone or going in spots, I want to maybe just refresh the white, maybe rattlecan, maybe I'll pick up a gun (I have a small compressor) What do you recommend to remove the rest of the clear before painting?

I don't know about roll on paint but when we prep cars we use red scuff pads if the bumpers come already primed. If not we use gray scuff pad. The difference is the "grit" if you will.
Since where on this subject, does anyone work at a body shop? Just wondering, I have for about 3 years now. Love it
Since everyone is talking about paint...
I'm looking at picking up an air compressor this week. What size compressor should I get that won't limit my options in terms of painting if I should decide to do some paintwork? How many cfm's should the compressor be able to flow?
I'm currently looking at a 33 gallon compressor, but unsure of the full specs.

Believe it or not, they are working on getting the search fixed....still. The problem is indexing the tens of millions of posts without the whole thing crapping out.

When you guys mention 'feathering out' what does that mean exactly? Knocking it down level with the paint?
No, on the contrary JollyGreen, sorry if it looked like I overlooked your input. I posted in here to get as much input as I can, I called CBE out because I saw he just did his paint and I know he had cut some cost where he could but still got a great result.

Did definately not mean it as a knock, plus you I think are one of the few with as much time into your paint, that would admit to doing the roller paint - and especially in the interior, that makes a lot of sense.

oh no prob dude. the only reason i did the rope trick with the mouldings was cause the clips break on the door mouldings. thats when i repainted the bottom half of the car due to rock damage. ALWAYS RUN FENDER LINERS ON EF's cause the rocker is metal. and if your roads are like the roads around here and you have sticky tires....youll find out.
and yeah the roller paint looked great. especially on the interior with two seats bolted over it. plus good way to paint interior with out removing the dash

Just get new clips from honda to hold it in, they work great.

I'm trying to think how to word it,and not sound like a jackass hahaha

if i was an admin here i'd throw out the search function and just tell people to google it. it's best used with craigslist b/c it searches all craigslist's throughout the nation
