and yes, gearing FTW. I used to have a JDM ITR 4.7 FD trans in my built B16 and the thing was a MONSTER. 63-65mph = 3800-4000 rpms

Once it was for my signature being too big and then it was because I flamed some kid. It used to be lower but GK hooked it up

I was hating on an EMO music thread despite that I listened to some of the bands. The rules read no flaming and I flamed

haha, I have 16 in my name, but havent had one in about a year. I love my b18b. Paired with the itr tranny, pulls HARD.

9.5K redline and 150mph speedo. to hell with that kph ****.

haha, 8 more weeks and I garage my piece for the winter here in lovely Pittsburgh, Pa. ugh. So it'll prolly be a while before I get crackin on it.

 

8 weeks is winter for you guys!? it'll still be high 70s or low 80s here.

Yes really. Have you ever driven a short geared tranny? There is a noticable difference. If I was doing a budget swap, I would go with a b20 with the LS tranny. If I was content staying non vtec, I would go b20 with an ITR gearset in a 92-93 ls case, because why do a swap and not have LSD? Any type of track driving with a swap is just silly without lsd. </TD></TR></TABLE>


you are forgetting that i have had both

b16 w/ LS hydro tranny

b16 w/ cable y1 tranny

my b20 has a Ls tranny


short gears are great but if you have no power behind it you feel nothing
longer gears with mid-range power when down shifting feels the same as a short gear'd tranny during high end.
Or it just might be my setup. I'm using a different ECU on my b20 so it tends to feel like more fuel is being dumbed during mid and high end.

 

I used to have that cluster, and i know how to wire it up.... duh!

How would you know if more fuel was being dumped have you takin it to a dyno to check???

thats why I speficially used the word "feels"

 

BUT how would you know what it feels like???Is that what she told you last night...

 

vega.... you have it completely opposite.


a short geared trans will make the car "feel" faster.
a longer geared trans will let the rpms drop lower in between upshifts.
