In looking at that post as well, it is in fact as I mentioned, It is a piece that was produced for autocrossers/racers running the CRX/Civic platform.

Kinda like a bug shield/windguard material - designed to you would not damage your front end at the track but still get proper airflow where you need it (see open inlet? You wouldnt need that for a tow behind protector application).

This was way before clear bra and such and also absorbed a small amount of 'taps' (think debris, not contact damage) to the front end where a fabric bra may not. Shields pretty much the entire front end, you remove it to open hood though.

If I am correct, there should be some mounting holes that line up with the 88-89 corner lamps/corner light screws.

So last night i lost to my buddy's CRX. My setup is as follows:
Stock K20Z1
A2 Trans. w/ OEM LSD (from '08 Si)
Short Ram Intake
DC Swap Header
Thermal R&D 3" Turbo Exhaust
in a 1991 Honda CRX DX

His setup is as follows:
Stock B18C5
Jackson Racing Supercharger at approximately 5.5psi
SiR-I B16 trans. w/ OEM LSD
HyTech Replica Header (open)
in a 1991 Honda CRX Si

He beat me by about a car length from a 40mph roll. please discuss.

1 car length is not that much. especially a crx. plus, those 2 setups probably put down similar whp numbers. i'm willing to bet that the jrsc b18c was a cheaper and easier swap than the k.

That's up for debate.

a B series with a blower is limited by space. if he bought the b18c5 from hmotors and supercharger brand new, the price is probably about the same.

there are a few variables as to why the outcome was what it was. is the k20 tuned? is the B18c5 tuned? tires? weight? RPM at 40mph+gear? driver ability (or who beat on their car more) one car length can be tuned out with practice and a dyno.

but i know the B series + blowers are a potent street setup. back whn i was doing my swap i rode in a b18c1 supercharged car and less than 2 minutes later i rode in ryans k20a crx. thats what changed my mind. the k motor felt faster, and was still stock and honda reliable. the b series was boosting 8 psi.

-Rant begin-

Well it looks like I am missing the much anticipated Eibach meet this year. I have had nothing but problems with my car over the past 2 weeks, chewed wiring, oil leak, rat **** in the blower unit, and now it looks like I have another bad distributor. This will be the 4th unit that I have had from DK in the past 2000 miles.

I have had so many distributor issues in the past that I would usually keep an extra in the trunk with the tools to change it out, but my extra one is bad too! I'm hoping DK with give me a full refund for both the units and I can look for something else. I would buy an oem one again but I'm sure that will go out too. I'm thinking of the MSD billet distributor as it can handle high revs. Short of going with a standalone ecu and COP's I havent found anything else that's an alternative solution.

-End Rant-

that is true. but a stock K vs. a boosted B18. and the K powered car felt faster to me.

im sure there are B series setups out there that will kill the K motor for less money... maybe even D series setups. but, most of these k swaps are internally stock and should last much longer.

well i wanted people to talk about it. not just read my post and continue on.

anyway, wheelspin wasn't much of an issue for either of us. but i am on cheapo tires.

we were in 2nd gear and by the end of 4th he had me by a car length.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by nickrps &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">What are the whp numbers? What is the trim of each CRX (year and model)?

that info is posted. he was a 91 Si and im in a 91 DX. i have full interior...he has none. but that kinda stuff really didnt matter much i dont think.

it definately wasnt much cheaper. i mean...the supercharger alone was like $2700. Type R swaps arent cheap either. but his came from the dealership. i wasnt there when he did the s/c but he told me it was one of the toughest things he's done to a car. my swap was pretty simple. its not as hard as most people think. pretty similar to an h22 swap in a 92-95 civic.

both of us have street tunes. mine is with K-Pro and his is with Crome. In fact we are both heading to the dyno this Saturday to get dyno tuned on Hondata.

The only reason im running on a street tune was because my tuner did it for me for free. he said he doesnt like the Hondata basemaps much. the dyno time this weekend should "fine tune" everything.

hey guys, after much thinking, the corolla will go up for sale. im not happy with the corolla forums, member attitude, lack of information, misinformation. i will stick with an aircooled vw instead (found 2, just waiting on registration to come in the mail). much bigger and better community. my crx could really use some a/c.

if i going to be going to meets and stuff, i at least want to associate with people who are cool, friendly.
i have been to many AE86 forums
club4ag, hachi-roku.net, dori-kaze, aeu86, ae86driversclub, socalae86, toyotanation, and a couple others.

not much good information being shared like this website.
just did the title transfer and registered it as a non op today. was 408.00. unless i find a really good reason to keep it before the title gets here, it will be gone.

Surprisingly, a lot of people who don't know much about cars buy into certain brands because of hype or popularity. Not because they have a true passion for the car or scene. The same could be said for a lot of the Honda scene too though. I mean, look at the whole JDM trend or road racing.

The JDM trend is obvious and a lot of kids buy Honda's, street race, and pretend they know what they're talking about when it comes to mechanics when in actuality they know close to nothing/just pay a shop to do everything for them. A lot of these people sell out or leave the scene in a few years.

The whole road racing scene is great and I want to get into it someday (when money and time permit), but I'm still surprised at how many people who have gone to say one track day just mindlessly bash on cars that were built with road racing parts but don't get raced on the track.

In the end though, there are always going to be idiots, haters, flamers, etc. that come and go but the true enthusiasts will stay regardless of what their motive is with their car . I've met a fair share of good people who build show cars and people who build racecars in the Honda scene (also a lot of idiots/scammers/lowballers lol). Oh yeah, and I would get rid of the car too if it had $408 in registration fees haha -- End rant.
